I wasn't saying that it's a good reason to make it illegal, I was saying that it's a good reason to not do life threatening things (smoking) to yourself.

So? Buying cigarettes doesn't mean that you're going to litter them. Increase the penalty and enforcement of littering butts, sure. But making the product itself illegal is ridiculous. You know what's another big littering problem? Soda cans. Should we illegalize that, too?

Refer to my post about the hypothetical bleach cigarettes. It doesn't matter whatsoever how bad something is for you. You still have every right to ingest it, smoke it, inject it, whatever. It's your own body, and you have a human right to fuck it up however you want, as long as it doesn't affect others. And for that reason, I wouldn't object to an outright ban on public smoking. But to prohibit someone from buying a pack of cigarettes, going into their own home, and smoking them privately, is ludicrous.
