Steeped coffee in the refrigerator for 24 hours, then I pressed it to remove the grinds, and heated it in a saucepan.

Pressed one more time, then served at 170°F
Didn't need any cream or sugar, it was fine black, but I added a dash of cream for color and texture.

It had excellent body, great flavor, and a silken palette feel.

Anybody ever make or try cold brewed coffee?

This makes coffee sound like it's worth trying.
What kind of coffee did you use?

Gevalia

It's worth noting that you can't make this unless you have a press or some sort of screen to pour it through.

Hmmmm... I might have to pass for a while. I need a new paring knife, sieve, sauce pans and stock pans, and possibly a new chef's knife for general cooking purposes before something specific like a coffee press.
It sounds damn good the way you phrased it; I'm intrigued. I'm a tea drinker, and coffee hasn't ever really appealed to me. I also haven't ever had especially 'good' coffee, however.

Leaving it in the fridge is just as effective.

You're supposed to drink cold brew cold... What temp was the water you steeped it in?

I used to have to make it at Starbucks everyday... it was a pain in the ass and then the bag would go moldy if you forgot to take it out and then you had to throw out the whole batch (we would pour it into two pitchers at a time so we could avoid serving moldy  coffee...)

I can make cold coffee by putting regular coffee in the fridge, cold brew is slow brewed at room or lower temperature.

I'm not a fan of Iced coffee, so naturally I served it hot.

Once again, it doesn't need to be served cold, it's just a richer method, and just brew it in a tupperware container then press the grinds out.

Yeah, especially considering I have a Keurig.

This way makes a way better cup of coffee though.

You wot.

It turns black ass soon as you mix the grinds in.
I couldn't watch it steep if I tried.

Reheating brewed coffee is bad juju. Ultimately you're doing very little more than heating up a regular cup of coffee. Cold brew isn't special, it just takes more ground and time because of a lack of heat.

Did you use a french press for this process?

You can use a coffee filter with a rubber band and a plastic bain-marie to avoid getting that metallic taste from the french press.

You are correct about re-heating coffee it actually destroys some of the flavor notes. Also Cold Brew tends to have a sweeter taste with a thicker body, but it takes the same amount of coffee to water ratio as normal brewed coffee.

Cold brew uses twice as much coffee as a regular-strength pot of drip or French press.

Good tip for those that like their coffee less bitter: add a pinch or two of salt to the grounds before brewing. You can also just put a dash of table salt into a cup of coffee, but I've never done that so I can't speak to its efficacy.

Cold brew doesn't actually take twice the grounds, when it's done brewing you have to add water or you'll be buzzing from how concentrated it is. Made that mistake my first batch, almost killed me.

Yeah at Sbux they are required to add water to their handcrafted cold brew before handing it off to the customer even if they ask for cream with it it still gets water added to the cup.

The reason you brew it cold instead of brewing it hot and chilling it is for the superior body and flavor.

It's a damned good cup of coffee; the price of patience.

I just brew it overnight so it's ready in the morning. The point is that reheating it results in an inferior product. It tends to reintroduce the bitterness that cold brewing prevents. You do you, man.
