Can't fall asleep, and when I do I wake up in the middle of the night.
Anyone know any tips to help?

Sleep medication?
Those have side-effects and should really only be used in the short term or not at all as they can cause dependency and lower quality sleep over time. Same with OTC sleep aids.

Not sure but my problems with sleep coincided with stressful event, although that was three months ago.

Melatonin?
And actually working hard during the day?

My grandpa always said, "If you're not tired by the time you hit your bed, you didn't work hard enough during the day."

Tried Melatonin and even doubled the dosage and still didn't work, but I know that it works for a lot of people. There might be something going on in my body hormonally that's keeping me in a state of alertness is my guess.

I'd make a doctors appointment. Just be adamant that you don't want pills and you want to find out exactly whats wrong.

Personally, I'll take a sleeping pill maybe once or twice a week just because I NEED to fall asleep or i'm fucked at work the next day. A lot of people can't sleep in this day and age with technology and our minds racing 24/7.

So yeah, Doctors and maybe some meditation or yoga exercises before trying to go to bed.

In combination with what PSU said, Psy will probably come in and shill for CBT(cognitive behavioral therapy) ... so that could be something to look in to

Eh not for insomnia really

There isn't much beyond sleep hygiene and sedatives in terms of treatment atm

it's not though

don't use digital devices that blast blue spectrum light into your pineal glands late at night

turn off the lights in your room an hour before you want to go to sleep, have a dim glow off a lamp or something

don't play shooters, don't watch action films late at night

it's simple stuff but it does work for most cases, if it doesn't then you'll probably need sedatives

I found staying off my phone/laptop 3 hours before bed and taking low dose melatonin (like .25-.5mg) helped.  I've read that the body produces melatonin in small amounts (.25mg), so most store bought kinds that come in 3mg tablets can cause an inverse stress response and keep you awake.  I got around this by buying it as a liquid with a dropper that serves at a fraction of a mg per serving.

It's really all about maintaining a schedule and winding down before bed.  Even doing leisurely things like standing at my desk on my laptop can get my brain into a work mindset, which is terrible before bed.  I got out of my schedule and now I am having sleep probs again.

As a PS, I recommend f.lux for your devices.  Blocks blue light which suppresses melatonin.

Rockets on my X
On nights were I can't fall asleep I burn it off by exhausting myself. I do slow jog laps around my town until my legs can't keep my up anymore.

I come home, take my shoes off, and drop into bed with no protest.

His eyebrows sparkling, his white beard hangs down to his chest. The thatched mats, spread outside his chise, spread softly, his splendid attos. He polishes, cross-legged, his makiri, with his eyes completely absorbed.

He is Ainu.

The god of Ainu Mosir, Ae-Oine Kamuy, descendant of Okiku-Rumi, He perishes, a living corpse. The summers day, the white sunlight, unabrushed, ends simply through his breath alone.
Same. Don't fall asleep until too late, then repeatedly wake throughout the night. Never a such thing as a good night's rest anymore.

We knew the world would not be the same.
A few people laughed, a few people cried, most people were silent.
I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad-Gita.
Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty
and to impress him takes on his multi-armed form and says,
"Now, I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.."
I suppose we all thought that one way or another.
go to the gym

Long live NoNolesNeckin.

Ya fuckin' ganderneck.
Exhausting yourself helps.
Avoid technology at least 30 mins before bed.
Also, diphenhydramine.

tbh though, insomnia usually has some underlying health condition as a cause. (not necessarily a serious one)
