How well do you think the Mad Max and Star Wars reboots are going to do?

For Mad Max I see that doing well both sales and reception wise. I haven't seen the first movie but the trailer looks like it's returning to the dark atmosphere the second one has. It looks like it's going to be more of a serious movie than what the third one is which was just to campy with the midget and those kids. It looks like a movie the old fans and new people to the series will enjoy.

For Star Wars it's going to do very well sales wise but reception wise I see Mad Max having better reviews and being received better by the watchers. I know it's just a very simple teaser trailer to show you there's a new Star Wars movie but it still didn't get me pumped up for it as what the one for Mad Max did. The only thing that trailer did was turn me off from the movie. The trailer looks like there's going to be a lot of stupid things in the movie because of that droid moving around on a ball and that retarded giant square speeder bike. The other thing about the movie is that we all know it's going to be another kid focused thing that Star Wars is all about. There's a lot of fans of Star Wars that are old enough to have kids and grand kids of their own. Sure there's going to be older fans that will enjoy it but it's just going to be a camp fest.

Well JJ Abrams fucked up Star Trek, so I'm hesitant about Star Wars. Obviously it'll be a good movie, but whether it'll be true to the series is another question. I think your interpretation of the trailer is way off though.

Maybe but the trailer did have some dumb things in it though. The giant square speeder bike looks like something someone randomly designed and decided to put into the movie. I know it's hardly anything to go by but if that made it in the movie then there's probably other retarded designed things as well.

The last movie that came out was back in 2005 and the new one is coming out in 2015. So I say a movie that is coming out 10 years latter after the last one might as well be a reboot of the movies. The other thing is that a new company is in control of Star Wars so their ideas would be different so it's somewhat of a redo.

Eh I guess if you look at it that way, if a franchise has been sitting quiet for a while and a new one comes out to try and revitalize the series you could look at it as a reboot.

I felt that the issue with the Star Trek movie was that it didn't feel like Star Trek, it felt more like Star Wars. I'm not entirely convinced Episode VII will be good, but I'll wait till I see it before declaring it to be awful.

I think MM has the potential to do well. It has the original director at the helm and everything we've seen so far looks like what a Mad Max reboot should be like.

We still need some more media attention for Episode VII, so it really could go either way. I do feel like Abrams has a lot more pressure to succeed though. It's unfair, but it's true. At least the prequels were memorably bad. If Abrams makes a serviceable, but not exactly exemplary SW film then it'll be remembered just for that. The first ever mediocre Star Wars film. He really needs to get everything bang on the money here.

also I am 100% sure Fury Road will destroy Episode VII both in terms of critical reception and actual quality.
That's what I'm feeling to. The trailer looks like it's trying to be as close as what the second movie which made Mad Max what it is today. The movie looks like it's trying to stay as close to the series while also being a reboot. Looking at the Star Wars trailer it seems like it's going to have a lot of stupid things in it. The giant speeder bike is something that should have stayed an idea.

That's how I see it to. It's going to be a fun movie for all ages but it's just going to stay as a fun movie. I know Mad Max is campy at times but Star Wars has a lot of it. Looking at the trailer that droid on the ball looks like it's going to be one of the campy things of it.

If I had to make a prediction, I think it's going to be really divisive.

In the same way that Dark Knight Rises was divisive. There's gonna be a camp of people who will say Jar Jar Abrams is a genius, and he saved the Star Wars franchise. Then there's gonna be the camp of people who think he killed it more than Lucas ever did.

It's gonna get on IMDB's top 250 for a good year, and then it's gonna drop like a rock. After two years, it's rating will be 7.5-8.0.
I'm gonna say 7.7.

As for Rotten Tomatoes?... I don't know, they're always unpredictable.

It's a continuation. If it was a reboot it'd be throwing out the ones we already have.

Plus George Miller is still doing Fury Road, and I think he's learned from Beyond Thunderdome and knows what to fix. The fact that the movie will be R shows already that he's not making Beyond Thunderdome 2.
Uh dude, I'm excited for the film too but lets not twist any facts. Fury Road will be PG-13, disappointingly.

Amongst general audiences and critics. It disappointed a lot of die hard Trek fans though, with Into Darkness being voted as the worst Trek film.

nigga what I read it was R

The BBFC also gave it a 12A, which is basically the bong equivalent of a PG-13.

By people that like lowbrow action sci-fi, sure. Anyone that was even mildly invested in the Star Wars EU should be concerned about Abrams' track record.

star wars will earn enough cash to warrant a sequel, barring a terrible tragedy. it would have to be 1000000x worse than the prequels to lose any money, and the prequels were fucking trash in the first place, so its safe to say the star wars train will keep on rolling.

mad max is a bit different. my money's on it being a flop.
