Garlemald did nothing wrong.

After ferociously fighting for two and a half years and a lot of hard work, I finally got full time coordinator (team lead/assistant manager). I'm working in Magic Kingdom proper, in Fantasyland. Some things to note:

-By beginning of next year I should be making $16.50 an hour.
-Gender ratio in my new location is funny, including me and my leaders it's 21 males and 243 females.
-My costume/uniform is the silliest looking thing on Earth.
-I'm now in a stronger position to apply for manager/leadership in the future.

AMA I guess.

I actually haven't started yet lol. My orientation for the park in Tuesday August 6th, but I can tell I'm probably really going to like it. I have several friends in MK so It'll be easier to do things with them before/after work. I play Yugioh with one of them in the cafeteria in the tunnels underground.

Hmm...
Do you get free tickets for your family / friends? Any other perks to working for Disney?

Yes. I get an employee pass that lets me go in whenever I want and three guest passes that are good for 16 days every calendar year but have certain block-out dates (like Christmas and New Years-Eve). Your employee ID also gets you complimentary parking at the parks, and when you start you get 20% off merchandise you buy but after three years (I'm at five years) it's bumped up to 35%. Every year they also do a "Family celebration" package where they bump up the merchandise discount to 40% from October 1st to February 13th, and you get a 30%, 40%, & 50% dining discount vouchers for certain restaurants.

There's a bunch of other goodies they do and places outside of Disney also offer promotions for people who work there; for example I get 20% whenever I go to the Hooters closest to Disney.

oh there are underground tunnels? that's cooler than the park attractions.

Aside from cafeterias, are there any other amenities in the tunnels?

Got any pictures?

Any recent ones? Not really, the company is really finicky about modern backstage images being leaked. You can find older photos of the tunnel on Google though simply searching "Magic Kingdom Utilidor". Here is a map of the tunnel:

Spoiler

What that map doesn't show is the numerous mini-hallways that all interconnect with the main ones. All over the tunnels are also smaller break rooms, walls of lockers, trash compactors & bailers, and such. The tunnel is in a slight lower than ground level while the park proper that you visit is in a higher level. Hence when you enter the park you go up a slight hill and when you get off the bus to enter the tunnel there's a slight dip.

On the map there's also a complimentary barber area called Kingdom Kutters cause not only is our work-look very keen on our hairstyle but we just recently only started allowing beards; before you had to be clean shaven period.

Yeah, when I was working in food service I joined the union in charge of that then when I switched to merchandise it switched my membership to the union in charge of that business line. I'm honestly thinking of leaving it though, they take about eight bucks every week out of my paycheck and the only service they provide that I particularly care about is making sure there's a union representative with you when you have a meeting that could result any disciplinary action but their contract with the company requires one to be present anyways for anyone hourly regardless if they are with the union or not so I don't need to pay a fee for that.

Furthermore I've been with this union for almost four years now and they kind of just flat out suck. They were the only one that didn't want to push for $15 an hour minimum in the company and that's because they didn't want to make any concessions that are honestly things that aren't that big of a deal like having a five minute grace period before your start time to clock in so you're not late instead of 15 and now having having to wait 12 months instead of 6 when transferring to a new location before being able to transfer to an exact same position.

The first example really bugs me because the only reason that's an issue is cause we have lazy workers that treat their job as more of an annoying chore than anything so they stall having to come to work for as long as possible and don't give themselves enough travel time so they're rushing to clock in "on time" within seconds of being late. Everyone I know within even a sliver of work ethic shows up at least 10-15 minutes early anyways so the change to lowering the grace period doesn't affect them anyways.

you a member of any of them?

Post the one I found of you, I'm too lazy to look through the chat and find it.

OT: I had my orientation today; half a day of learning the whole park and half a day shadowing another coordinator. One lady had a seizure the last 45 minutes so I spent that entire time just hiding her behind me in a corner while waiting for 911 to show up, beautiful start.
