just curious

for discussion value, uhhhh, what is your favorite PoV to write in

i don't really have a preference, but i loathe the third person--it's very challenging for me
second person is fun to experiment with

Long live NoNolesNeckin.

Ya fuckin' ganderneck.
Well I would definitely like to but since I'd kinda rather do a graphic novel I'm procrastinating until I can actually sketch characters better.

Yeah, it's fine. I often spam message sandtrap or psy for feedback, too.

I tend to do more world building stuff than actual writing. Partially because I want to have a fully established backstory to reference when I get around to writing something so I don't contradict myself, and partially because I suck at writing dialogue. Mainly because I'm not much of a talker irl.

I've looked at doing something like that.

It's just the prospect of having to re-learn how to draw on a graphics tablet.

I love you, son.
If I find the time to. I'm trying to figure out a planning style. I have a load of key plot points in my head but I'm not very good at planning it all on paper, but I also don't like to make things up as I go along.

Most of my ideas involve the third person limited but with multiple POV characters.

Also my favourite genre to write is probably post-apocalyptic/dystopia in general. Not much of a fantasy fan or a fan of present-day settings.

I like it because you can have fun with the narration. Breaking the fourth wall and what not. Keeps the reader invested.

Wouldn't work for a murder mystery obviously.

I've tried writing things, aside from something I started a month ago and haven't made much progress on (I should really pick that back up) I haven't done anything that I've kept around in a long time.

Funnily enough, doing a clearout of my room today I found a story about Halo I did back in 2006-7 for class.

Kind of like ASOIAF's writing style?

I'm all up for that whenever I can manage to get myself one again. I just dread having to learn anatomy, or rather the fact that I'm going to be bothered by all the mistakes I make.

Yeah, I've been reading the books recently so I'm partly inspired by that style of writing.

That's the other thing. I can draw mechanical objects (Power armour, tanks, aircraft, buildings etc) and landscapes pretty well, but I suck at people and animals.

I'm much the same. I like seeing things from multiple points pf view in that series.

Yeah

I've found 2nd person to be really useful for interactive stories like choose your own adventure books/games. It's also fun directly addressing your audience all the time.

Choice between 1st and 3rd seems arbitrary. I feel like it's up to which one you can use to its greatest effect based on the genre. 3rd is better for world building while 1st is better for introspective stories.

This is not the greatest sig in the world, no. This is just a tribute.
First and second are the easiest to write cheesy emo or pop-punk lyrics in.

There are a few stories thrown into my Google Drive, all being written from the third person limited point of view. I have a few drawings that were associated with said work, but they will not appear on this site in particular.

I like free indirect discourse for prose stories, but I usually write in 3rd.

For my story project I may or may not write, I think free indirect discourse could work well, especially where I want to be ambiguous.

In poetry I tend to shift more. Recently I've been revising a poetry story that begins In second person, transitions to first person, then to third, and ends in first.

I drift about all three. I remember 1st person and 3rd person. But I'm a little foggy on how exactly 2nd is defined.

But as I go along I shake things up and switch through all three for the sake of experimentation or something new.

I do. Right now I'm working on a short horror story that's just been put through editing. When I'm done I plan to put it up on Amazon.

I write first person, mostly. I like to read stories that draw me in and force me to identify with the character. Plus it allows the reader to fill in the blanks about what's going on outside of the POV. The protagonist may not have a clue, but the reader does.

I like the third person.

First person seems so cliche, and second is just too abstract.

second person writing is very hard. most of the time i see it used i cringe.
third person is probably my favorite to read, first person makes me think of a diary too much.

Sandy writes, Longface also writes.

i like first person because it enables the reader to "see" through the character's eyes, per se.
