It's not really a skill or method of thinking that can be taught. But if you have enough people chuck a dagger in your back and others to part ways with, eventually, you learn how to sever connections. I can't say it's a pleasant ability to have since the process of getting it isn't exactly peachy.

But learning how to do it helps. Pain is still there but you'll be less put off by it. It's never easy to put your heart on the line and get burned. But don't let it stop you. What's done is done.

It's almost easier to pretend the person(s) died and then cope with it that way. I don't know if it's healthy or not since it's lying to yourself in a sense but that's how I dealt with that sort of thing.

But ye never take the emotional armor off because you will get fucked up sooner or later.
