TL,DR: he used a type of scuba tank that's banned for use in diving due to being constructed poorly, he was wasted on alcohol when trying to attach the mouth piece to it when showing it to his friends, he and it fell over, the tank blew up, and he got shrapnel in his balls.

What happens if you inhale compressed smoke? Doesn't sound too safe, considering hiw certain types of compressed gases interact with the body.

Is it really anymore dangerous than compressed air or oxygen? I assume it was compressed air mixed with smoke, and not pure smoke. I mean how would he even purify it from air?

I imagine the smoke would probably have a partial pressure of its own, simply because it's mixed with pressurized air.
