Biden won the debate

Trump was on uppers and I think a drug test should be required for the next debate. Glad to see a sober Biden slaying Trump.

The man couldn't even commit to a peaceful respect of the election results.

Biden called him a molester, a felon, and the unequivocally worst president in US history.

NBC news says Biden was sluggish and didn't win - I strongly disagree.

There’s no way to sugar coat it. It was a complete dumpster fire of a performance.

There needs to be some serious talks to him about having him step down before the convention.

Wish that this man would just step up to the plate. Would destroy his career, but it would save democracy itself. He would beat Trump in a landslide.

We're unfortunately in a situation where corporations are gaining more power than the government itself - that's a cruel reality of this late-stage capitalism. But the Democratic party and GOP are far from being the same. They're both beholden to money, yes.

Ultimately, the Democratic party is playing a dangerous game. They like Biden because he's been a rather hands-off president, simply filling his cabinet with competent people who have provided us one of the greatest presidential administrations in recent history.

So the Democratic party is content to let their - shall we say, to be nice - figurehead be the nominee because they want four more years of that. And I'd love that too! But the problem is that Biden is getting decreasingly electable. They're gambling with democracy itself, just to get more personal power. It's pretty sick.

Not sure I necessarily agree with everything in this post, but strongly agree with this part.

I think they need to put someone like Buttigeig in, and maybe have Biden serve as VP again.

It’s a Hail Mary but I think it’s genuinely a better option than continuing the current course.

I'd love to see a drug test to see the absolute final boss of psychoactive stimulants Biden has to be on to make it through two hours of standing at a podium speaking badly and looking around like he's got no idea what's going on.  I can't imagine the level of delusion a person needs to be under to still be pretending Biden is mentally cognizant after all this time, when even now major news outlets and lefty commentators are admitting that he's senile and the most honest ones are admitting he has been his entire presidency.  Back during the 2020 election they were already recognizing it publishing articles like "Hold On Biden, We Only Need Your Corporeal Form!"

The fact that CNN put this debate on in the format they did seems to suggest that they, along with most other Democrat voters, want the party desperately to switch out Biden before they get obliterated in November.  I was expecting the usual sort of circus where Trump was going to have to debate the moderators while Biden took a nap, but instead he was allowed to speak freely and while they had some nonsense questions and avoided a lot of fact checking of Biden, it still all leaned to Trump's favor.  CNN basically put the nail in Biden's coffin and it's got to be because they want him gone rather than going down with the Democrat ship.

Whatever the new Shadow Campaign To Save The Election is for 2024, the people involved on that side don't seem to have much faith in it this time around and seem to want to get Biden tf out to maybe put Gavin Newsom or someone else form the bench. They might be reaching a point with Biden where no level of manipulation is going to save it this time around.

Biden lost the debate, since he was looking physically weak, and some media outlets got something to write about. But does the debate matter that much for this election? They would matter if majority of voters wouldn't have decided who to vote for, but as far as I am concerned everyone already have decided who they will be voting for and those debates just serve as some confirmation on each candidates position and what each candidate will do if they become a president. I don't think that these debates matter much for election.

Overall debates were depressing to watch because both candidates are old, and, well, one candidate seems to be wise and speaking with facts, with some defined position, yet physically weak and speech problems (while they aren't anything new, aren't helping), while other candidate energetic, proactive, yet when you will start analyzing what he said and start fact checking, well, the things don't match. Either way, seems like there's lack of younger people who would be passionate enough about politics that would have big public support to be a valid candidates for a president.

Matters, your vote matters. There's a common electoral technique, push random candidates to draw votes from the main candidates by having somewhat similar position or even similar names. When voting, you should consider your candidate's political career. Did they appear from nowhere, or did they have some smaller positions, local positions like for example, on level of town, and what were their position and result of their politics? Never will the people who come out from nowhere will bring any good, they either are already someone's pawns or, if they don't have any position, they will get easily manipulated by others.

The people we need to show up to win this thing aren’t going to stand in line to vote for someone they view as a corpse, and after what I saw Thursday, I frankly don’t blame them.

There may be a portion of the people that change their mind, but I am not sure it will be any big. You see, people that already decided on voting for Biden may prefer a corpse that will serve for 1 year over Trump that will serve for 5. Some people aren't voting for Biden, they are voting against Trump because they believe Trump would bring something bad. That and their difference in age is apparently only.. 3 years. They both are at risk from their old age. Your Constitution probably accounted for a scenario when president suddenly passes away too, so, while it would be a tragedy, government wouldn't stop working from that.

Like, for example, even I would prefer my ex-president for ONE year last election Ukraine had, than this clown we have in Ukraine for FIVE, that's how much I believe it would be better for my country. Average voter that decided on who to vote would probably make same decision, and given how much polarized USA is, I am pretty sure majority would stick to their guns.

At least you got debates and not a clown parade on a stadium (like in Ukraine), but ye, I think both of candidates could have shown themselves better than that

We really don't.  Parliament is theater.  There is no requirement to answer questions or speak to the other and no moderator to hold each side to task.  We pay millions in taxes for some rich snobs to get together sometimes and put on a show for themselves.  The presidential debate on Thursday was more of a legitimate debate than ever occurs in Canadian parliament.  Hell, CNN should host our parliament.

Wouldn't not answering questions put whoever not answered in a worse spotlight than their opponent? Like I even saw Trump say something when answering for a question he wasn't prepared, like what does he think about position of Russia, and he still preferred to say something over not answering question, even though I think for all the viewers of the debates questions about external politics are less important than questions about internal ones and he could have skipped that one.

As for other points, I agree, the debate is hard to digest and I would rather not rewatch it. It also gives me a sense of deja vu, because when I look at the debates in whole, how they were going, they are reminding me the one with the stadium that happened in Ukraine.

Based on our convoluted system, if a fraction of a fraction of the electorate decides to stay home in some key states, Trump will win.

I’m less worried about Biden’s ability to serve than his ability to lose to the autocratic candidate, which seems increasingly likely.

No, no one really cares or expects any better.  Nothing you can do about it.  The party in power is most likely to do it.  There are plenty of clips of the opposition party asking the same question specifically over and over, and the party in government just not answering it repeatedly.  31% of the voters voted them in and will do so no matter what.

Who's the autocratic candidate?  You only have two parties anyone's going to vote for in any number, so I don't think you need to worry about whatever independent "America's New Stalinist Party" type parties with their hundred facebook group members getting votes.

Which was this?
Ukrainian last debates between candidates for a president seat were like this: one of candidates, our current president Zelensky, refused to show up for debates on TV and instead organized a stadium. Poroshenko, our ex-president, went there and tried to bring the discussion with Zelensky to some constructive point, but Zelensky just simply started pouring dirt on him, he even used russian fakes. In the end, after that, Poroshenko went back to TV broadcast room and was answering questions alone.

Poroshenko lost the election, but it wasn't really a consequence of debates, rather it was info-campaign that was organized against him by Russia and some of our oligarchs and stupid desire of ukrainians to have changes for better immediately as well as believing that "new face" would fix their problems better.

The deja vu I got was from the comment section under debates of USA presidents, that were discussing how Trump won over Biden rather the content and their responses to questions. Still, I believe that americans are smarter than ukrainians, and, no matter who would win on election, there is no way for a president to usurper the power in your country, because your government and officials follow law and constitution, while ours are ruled by a phone calls. Oh, and to expect for Youtube comment section to be constructive would be a bit too silly from me.

I wouldn't say that.  From what I've seen in America law and constitution have become degraded to the Nth degree at this point with show trials going on to lock up political opponents, and the constitution has been toilet paper for decades really although there've been some gradual wins for the first and second amendments.  Better off than Ukraine only because the corruption in Ukraine comes from America and Russia duking it out for whose thrall state it will be with real people stuck in the middle sadly, which Biden is involved in ironically.  In America it seems more like two parties trying to loot the ship as it goes down and there's some small number of congress workers and other politicians trying to get it up and running for the people.

Our debates are shit though. Our PM is so fucking bad that a toddler could walk on stage and say things that would be better than anything the PM could say. Any halfwit con artist could take the stage at this point and vomit out all the words everybody wants to hear, and they'd fold like over like a paralyzed guy without a wheelchair.

TDS.  Trump was in office already for four years and was just a guy.  He had decent economics, good foreign policy, mid domestic affair handling like COVID.  Please stop terrorizing yourself with people's insane fanfic tier writing like this.  If you truly believe these things I can do the full explanation to you why you can rest easy on this fearmongering point by point, because this article seems engineered only to try to horrify low information voters and can be fixed by just learning more about current events.  On its surface, we should find it hard to believe that "autocracy" is the fear here if they're not criticizing the Biden DOJ targeting political opponents to jail them leading up to the election when this article hysterically cries wolf about Trump abusing or circumventing the justice system when he didn't even follow through on, "Because you'd be in jail" during his first presidency.
