Valentines usually leaves me a depressed bag of trash, and I don't imagine this year'll be any different. I did want to make something for my SO though, and I can only assume it helps me move on, just slightly.

Something I've earnestly been wanting to try for a few years. Making a rendition of a forerunner or promethian that's not overdesigned in 343's approach.

The truly ironic thing was that I used Didact's undersuit, and Halo 4's Spartan Forerunner armor with a dirty retexture and I thought it looked pretty fucking rad. I chopped off a watcher's head to make a support ancilla, and surprisingly it doesn't look bad although I botched colours because there's an issue with the model, but eh, this was a test.

I also feel kind of bad for the artists that worked on halo 4-5, because while everybody bitches that everything is overdesigned into visual noise, working up close with some of the ported models gives me a view of just how much fucking detail was packed in, which is really sad in a way because it probably goes under everybody's radar.

They must have worked so fucking hard making the complex textures for all of it to pretty much go to waste.

So, this here is... the absolute farthest I've ever gone in my artwork in terms of how deep I sank into autopilot. Deep enough that the result is a mystery to me as I had no subject on the mind while making this. I just listened to the music and this showed up. You'd think I'd have to be tripping on something to have made this.

Another piece finished up. It's been sitting in limbo for a couple years. Difficult to work on. My homeless buddy who OD'd. Parents didn't want her even after finding out she was dead. Remember how all of it made me feel so fucking hopeless. That it seemed like nobody gave a shit but me in the capacity that I could.

I'd rather remember her for the time shared, who she was without the drugs. Played music, wanted to always be traveling, taught me the basics of sleight of hand magic tricks for show. She was a good person.

Between all the shit goings on I've been putting work in. The first picture was experiment involving metallic reflections, and the second was the theory I took from the first picture. Overlay photographs over 3d models for a surreal but not too uncanny valley effect.

While not what I'd consider clean or finished, it's proof enough for me that I'm on to something interesting.

The really short explanation? I accidentally learned how to hybridize my artwork in pixel-ish artwork. It's pretty bitchin' for a lot of reasons I'm too lazy to elaborate about.
