this thread makes me feel bad because I used to draw every day but I hardly ever do it at all anymore

This thread makes me feel bad because I mainly do 3D work and everyone else here does really cool digital paintings and shit

Having looked at both mediums I have a respect for both. The two mediums can achieve different results, the both of which can be amazing in their own respective right.

I think people out there have less of a respect for 3d because there's an underlying stigma that it's somehow "cheating" in the sense of traditional art.

I think when you begin to understand the complexity of 3d and you look at the work needed when it's pushed to it's maximum, you understand that this notion simply isn't the case.

Get back into it
don't have the motivation for it anymore
Best way to form a habit is to link it to another habit.

Most people draw while listening to music or watching a show they like, maybe that helps. It obviously depends on what you normally do in your spare time.
tbh If Nuka doesn't have the will or the passion for it anymore then there isn't really anything that will help with motivation.
Yeah, it's something I've been dealing with for a few years now. I just don't have the creative energy I used to have and it's kinda depressing. I signed up for a anatomy/figure drawing class (which is a class I've always wanted to take) but ended up dropping it because it felt like I was forcing myself.
My main method of inspiring my self and maintaining my passion is to consistently expose myself to other incredible artists and their work. Always checking DA, pinterest, various forums etc. and having subbed to many youtube artists.
I've always followed a multitude of artists, some since I was a kid. If I had to guess it's probably correlated to the dramatic shifts I've had in my life and how I didn't have access to creative materials for a long time. Hoping that maybe the mojo will come back some day.

Inspiration is a fleeting thing. While it's good for creating things, when you stake everything on it, you'll find that you've no backbone to support you. As soon as the inspiration dies, you lose.

When you turn whatever you're working on into a habit, no matter how small, you keep moving through tough times, so that you can reach the times when you are inspired again.

Practice makes perfect.

Habit keeps the ball rolling.

Digital art question. What's a good size file to work with so that upscaling isn't fuzzy on large printouts?  I made it in actual size, so it's 9000x14400 at 300 dpi.  Chrome runs out of memory trying to open it

you dont get to decide file size

you do however get to decide resolution

the only graphics that upscale well are vector graphics

otherwise ive had 4k prints turn out well in a2

you ever seen the pixel density on a 4k monitor

you dont need a 130 megapixel image

even most dslrs, even higher end ones hover around 20 at most

I have no idea what any of this means.  I just want to make sure my image won't be blurry why I print it in a large size, like 2ft x 4ft or bigger

your only other option is to use a computer with 64gb of ram for handling massive raster graphics

think about the resolution of your computer screen
now think about how many pixels that is

if youre happy with that quality use your monitor to measure the image

So I did some investigating and found that the current shitbucket computer I have access to can run some of my old programs. Already tried experimenting and got good results even though I'm doing things with one hand. It's slow but I think it'll help me out in training lefty for better dexterity and control. And it gives me something to do while stuck here. Will post stuff when able.
