This starts to make sense when you consider most poor minority groups in urban areas vote blue.

This is the way the world ends. Not with a bang but a whimper.
Which is why I'm a conservative democrat.

Ideologues on both sides tend to be fucking retarded.

Welfare dependency/farming for votes i.e. slavery.
I know you're mocking conservatives but this is not far from the truth.

Similar to how the party got behind marriage equality, really. It was a voter-base the Republicans were acting against.

Actually, I take that back. Not all too similar.

It's a well known fact that Red states are bigger burdens on the welfare budget.

Probably has to do with most of them being poor.

Well, yeah.

That's what welfare is for.

Isn't it obvious?

I'd say around 40% of democrats turn Republican after they get out of college and get a real job and understand that being Republican (at least fiscally) is what is best for their hard earned dollar.

Give me one example of a Republican candidate cutting taxes for the middle class.

George W Bush.

While it was less than the taxes he cut for the wealthy (obviously because the wealthy has more money to cut), he also cut taxes for middle and lower middle class.

Aight, I'll give you Dubya.

It should also be noted that Bush could have cut a lot more if billions weren't spent at war, but whatever.

Lets be real here, if Bush didn't go to war he would be looked at even more unfavorably today. We couldn't do NOTHING over being attacked on our soil.

Which is even more interesting when you see Republicans are the ones that support less/decreased taxes, something that would actually help poor people

Without using Google and only using your mind, please answer these simple history questions

1. What caused the creation of Sunni and Shi'ite Muslims?
2. List in order the following Chinese Dynasties: Qin, Shang, Han, Sung, Sui, Tang, and Zhou
3. Who was the Roman Emperor that increased persecutions of Christians?
4. Name the Indian leader who campaigned against the Macedonian general named Seleucus
5. What was the largest empire ever created?

This is really more an issue of being a history nut and getting wikilost than it is an issue of education.

Honestly, most people don't need to know this shit unless it is relevant to their intended field of work.

Door's right.
Random historical trivia makes me no more educated than any other douchebag on the street... even if I can fully understand the theory and applied use of WWII German panzer sights.

Knowing the difference between Islamic sects is rather important, as it's wrong to offend a person and assume all Muslims are the same

The Qin Dynasty created a very central government and with it, a civil service exam which has been a major reason for Chinese political stability for over 2,000 years. It's even the basis for other exams found throughout the world

Christian persecutions actually benefited the growth of the religion, making it one of the most influential belief systems

Genghis Khan's Mongolian Empire set the basis for the foundations of many world nations, including the formation of the Russian Empire

4/5 questions I posted off the top of my head have VERY strong connections to our everyday life and things could be different if Khan was killed by his blood brother or the Chinese never established a central examination. So yes, most people NEED to know this stuff, not only because it's our history but lack of historical education will be the rise of people like Stalin, Hussein, and Hitler
