Even I've changed my thoughts on weed, since it's legal here in California and I've tried it and seen its benefits on other people. Cigarettes and alcohol are worse, and yet they're perfectly fine and legal; smoking may be restricted in a lot of areas, but it's legal the moment you turn 18, and drinking is treated like it's a normal part of adult life. The only real damage you'd from weed get is from smoking it, and that's only because smoke can damage your lungs.

I don't think it's accurate to suggest Marijuana is 100% harmless though. There are damning studies out there that imply THC adversely affects mental illness in the long run.

Still doesn't justify its illegality, but some food for thought there.

Weed sounds like one of the least harmful 'illegal' drugs. I welcome its legalization, but I think drug sentencing reform should probably take first priority.

The study proves that cannabis usage only affects people who are already predisposed to developing schizophrenic tendencies, it has side effects just like every other drug out there. However, I still agree with you. Anybody who says cannabis is 100% harmless has no idea what they're talking about.

OT: I've known this for a long time after reading up on preliminary studies regarding the use of cannabis oil to fight breast cancer. There are so many positive aspects surrounding this plant that it's asinine for it to still be federally prohibited.

Except there is no proof that occasional use is in any way related to deficiencies in intelligence or brain function. The positives outweigh the negatives quite substantially, enough to where even the most thick-headed of people should realize that cannabis, when used responsibly and with respect, does not create adverse long-term effects.
