Does transgenderism cause dysphoria, or does dysphoria cause transgenderism?I may be wrong, but I thought "transgender" referred to people who changed their sex. So the dysphoria (thinking that you're a different sex to begin with) would lead to the transgenderism.Transgenderism is merely the identification with a gender not consistent with one's assigned sex.

Again, semantics. We both know what we're talking about, so why do you keep whining about the exact word used?
In terms of how you should 'treat' and treat people who are transgender, it's really quite simple.Treat them as a normal human being, with respect and dignity and don't obsess over the fact that they are different from the norm. In terms of medical treatment, I would say reassignment (physical) is the proper route to take (If that is what they wish) but that doesn't necessarily make it a disorder.
Transsexualism has the same definition as being transgender.
Quote from: Meta Cognition on September 14, 2014, 06:53:31 PMTranssexualism has the same definition as being transgender.Stupid.
Transgender is the state of one's gender identity or gender expression not matching one's assigned sex.
Transsexualism is when an individual identifies with a gender inconsistent or not culturally associated with their assigned sex.

I remember why I stopped caring about stuff like this.
Maybe because people are purposely trying to stir up anger.I mean that's the entire point of this topic, right? The title alone is an obvious enough indicator.
Yes, it objectively is. Imbalanced hormones cause a literal disorder in your brain, making you think that you're a sex that you actually aren't.

You know very well what you were trying to start here.

Some people think it's wrong and disgusting, and they're clearly showing that off to the public. Soooo terrible. That's not even on remotely the same level as the way herms look.>opinionBecause you know, it definitely makes that much of a difference.

I couldn't have made a more neutral title if I tried. Did I know it'd be controversial? Yes, of course. That's what this fucking board is for. If you're going to try and pin the sour taste left in your mouth after this discussion, it's just bullshit. And ill feelings you harbour towards people following any kind of discussion is on you. Don't try and pull this "OP is an agent of chaos" crap on me.
Quote from: Nuka on September 14, 2014, 07:02:55 PMYou know very well what you were trying to start here.Calm down, man. Not every controversial OP is an attempt to stir up anger. There's a Serious board for a reason, so people can actually talk about sensitive topics like this.
Right, and that's exactly why you respond the way you do. Like the way you misgendered Noelle in plug.dj and other places. Totally not trying to stir up anger, right?Don't make me start quoting things from this thread.
Funny, because "Let the games begin!" sounds like you're doing just that.
And the shitstorm resumes.*sigh*
