In light of all the bad news we've been having, I stumbled across this article that makes me smile.

In the video embedded below, an apparently intoxicated man attacks another passenger who he believes is gay. Within seconds, a number of bystanders leap into action to take the attacker down and hold him until police can handcuff him and lead him away.

The video is dated Thursday, October 23, and shows an unnamed angry man bellowing and threatening another passenger who is wearing a jacket and a pink shirt.

A tall man in a black cowboy hat approaches and asks the angry man what he’s upset about.

“Queers!” the man shouted. “That’s what I’m upset about. This faggot right here.”

After a tense exchange, the angry man kicks the man in the pink shirt, then slaps at him and grabs his hair.

A number of people rush to intervene as the man is tackled and put on the floor.

The man in the cowboy hat can be heard saying loudly, “No way! No way, you motherfucker. You ain’t doin’ that fucking shit, motherfucker.”

It actually kind of warms my heart to see people unite like that to help a fellow citizen instead of just standing there gawking with their cellphones out.

I've heard *some* reports that Texas may actually be turning a lighter shade of blue. Not totally liberal, but more "open" if you get what I mean.

That'll make the secular, uber religious Conservatives absolutely livid. XD

Some guy was drunk and he assaulted people and people stopped him. Really don't see how this can be interpreted into a specific thing. If I were there, I wouldn't care if the guy was chanting "He's a Democrat" or "he's a terrorist", I'd still put him in his place if he attacked another

Besides, Texas is still largely Republican, but guess what? Just because a person is Republican or religious, that doesn't mean they are anti-gay. The "hur suth ez homophobe" is seriously twisted and stretched beyond belief. So I hope Texas stays a red state. We need more people like them

First of all, the defence of a person doesn't necessarily transcend your perception of them. I'd defend a person I perceived to be my friend over a stranger, even if that perception was incorrect. It's possible the other Texans, equally, thought that man to be actually gay.

Second of all, most importantly, and I can't stress this enough, people make these things called jokes.
