Teaching people not to have a mental disorder
You're plain wrong. The majority of my issues come from having a male-sexed body instead of a female one (not that I'm trying to speak for everyone, but...)
Quote from: Prime Servitor on June 03, 2015, 05:55:00 PMI mean, through the eyes of someone with Gender Dysmorphia, gender isn't the problem; that is already down-pat. The body is the issue.i guess i just don't see why someone would care so much about it to the level where they'd want to change their bodywhy would it matter to anyonei'm not saying you shouldn't want to change your body if you do--but why kill yourself over itthat's why i call it irrational

Because I can't stop thinking about it. It's annoying and distracting and sometimes it gets in the way of everyday life. But I'm not saying I'm suicidal over it (I'm not) but I can see why it happens so often.
Verb, it's a disorder for a reason.

Trivializing the issue doesn't really help.
That's the thing verb, we can't understand. We have nothing to compare the experience to... except maybe an extreme body image/eating disorder, but even that's a stretch when you get down to it.
You have no idea what it's like to have a mental disorder do you. (exept the one that makes you want to kill everyboby)
It has nothing to do with rationality.

(exept the one that makes you want to kill everyboby)>is depressedYeah, I do. Thanks.QuoteIt has nothing to do with rationality. We teach people to give a fuck about their bodies. That's my argument. That's OUR fault as a society. My solution:Stop. That is a bad solution how.
If someone is uncomfertable with the body they are in due to a mental disorder they are gonna feel that way regardless of society.
I have above average intelligence (tested in school), didn't have any other condition, hadn't had any behavioral problems, and such, so I really didn't want to jump through all those hoops and talk to a psychologist to prove I was sane and suffered from gender dysphoria when I had already figured out what was wrong with me. So when I was 18 I started doing low level DIY hormone replacement after researching dosages, side effects, and the like.IDK what else to tell you, besides gender roles have very little to do with my problems (and I don't really have a feminine personality, either).

do you just not understand the concept of sexuality at all
it's meaningless to me, and it BAFFLES me as to why it isn't meaningless to anyone else

And this is your problem. not everybody is a appatheric stick in the mud like you, and you cant seem to comprehend that
And hey, maybe you're just one of those people who could be fine with either side, but apparently I'm not one of them.

I am saying people are going to care anyway
Quote from: Groot on June 03, 2015, 06:36:24 PMAnd hey, maybe you're just one of those people who could be fine with either side, but apparently I'm not one of them.Well, my goal is to produce a society (if we must produce a society at all) to not be comprised of a bunch of bigoted shitheads who cause people to feel uneasy or insecure or dysphoric to the point where they question their identity. And if someone is going to question their identity, they'll do it out of curiosity and wonder, not fear.Apparently, that's a shitty idea though. I should really stop trivializing the issue!Whatever.Thank you for sharing your situation with me.
