For example, being against the use of marijuana, but not opposing it to be legal, since it doesn't affect you?

Or wanting a certain form of society, but realizing that since it's not likely to happen or that it wouldn't work well because of human nature, settling for something different?

Yes.

Despite being something of a conservative, I still have quite radical views on a lot of things (such as the abolition of prisons). I try to channel these into practical and gradual considerations (such as a the decriminalisation of victimless offences).

Although, some radical principles which have stuck with me (socialism, to a degree,) I keep more separate.
