We Need Something That Encourages Thread Making

Like a special nameplate or an extra prefix title.

Something that will get people to create more threads.

There's a nifty shop mod that I was half-considering installing that would be an excellent motivator (you'd earn "credits" to buy nameplates with).

The problem with this is that it would most probably cause lots of shitposts with no discussion value.

Perhaps you could earn a credit if a mod deems your thread worthy based on the discussion value. Or you don't earn a credit until it gets that hot topic marker.

Instead of quantity, I think we should be focusing more on quality. I think it would be a great idea to have likes on posts count towards someone's title status. It would have to be made foolproof to avoid abuse, of course, but I rarely remember to give people a karma vote whereas I find myself constantly liking quality posts by quality users. Seems like it would be nice to have that contribute to one's forum rank.

I kind of like the idea of using points to purchase nameplates instead.
Make them worth 20-30 likes a pop or something.

Titles and nameplates are different though.
But yeah, as long as the like system is tweaked so it can't be abused.
