At the very least, until after the opening weekend has passed. I don't understand why Deci wasn't banned until at least Monday.

But seriously yeah, I do think you guys need to implement something like a 3 strike offense when it comes to serious things. A warning, and 3 times banned for serious stuff. 1st time would be like 2 or 3 weeks maybe (spoilers on opening weekend is a pretty big deal), 3 or 4 months the 2nd time around. In all honesty, that's a long time away from an internet forum. If you come back and STILL fuck up, then yeah, 3rd time = perma.

Obviously that would probably need to be tweaked, but that's for big offenses if you ask me. Minor stuff can still go like a few days/a week or whatever, I don't know. I do think however that the discussion is rather productive and at least we're all brainstorming.

Part of being a mod here (which isn't much here since most people are pretty cool about everything) is actually making sure to be firm when people fuck up hard. Especially when they have a history.

Yeah, cracking down on serious offenders has always been a problem with us - BasedLove and Dustin as a couple old examples.

I do agree with the idea of getting a new mod, but the problem with adding new features for us that you guys are suggesting is that we don't have someone to do the scripts and coding for it to happen - Cheat and Isara are both busy. I'll try and bring it to their attention over the holidays, when they might have a bit more time.

Yea I remember that's a bit of an issue with the tech team. Which is why I say have someone to cover Cheat's position with community stuff. It's been neglected recently imo

Sorry I was at work guys... I usually do my best to keep an eye on things while I'm at work, but tonight was wicked crazy busy, and I ended up staying almost an hour late. It's rather hard to moderate from my phone, but I managed. Thank you to everyone who hit the report button you made my life a little easier.

Hey, I'm happy with a month. Deci was quite obviously wound up throughout this whole thing, and a lot of what he said could have easily been bluffing. A thirty-day vacation is plenty of time for him to chill the fuck out and ruminate a little bit on what he's done (because you know he's going to spend every single one of those thirty days thinking about Sep7agon).

We're also talking about an extremely lenient mod team who rarely ever bans anyone for longer than three days.

I mean, I'd have banned him for at least two months, myself, but honestly, I respect this decision.

This issue is more than having one less staff member. Adding a mod won't fix the problem, but if that's all you're focusing your attention on then you're not seeing the other issues at hand.

Well a month is a fairly long time, even if he does continue posting spoilers afterwards, in a month the shock of having the new Star Wars spoiled isn't going to be nearly as bad, since most everyone's going to have seen it by then >.>

still doesnt justify doing it though since hes doing it with malice

and if he really does do it straight after being unbanned he should definitely be getting a much longer time out

The problem was life got in the way, which is going to keep happening. There are still going to be many periods where the mods are inactive.
