Dead Money is supposed to be really hard, that's part of the appeal. Look for the survival caches, they're usually filled with ammo and stimpaks. And yeah, if you're trying to win every fight, you're doing it wrong. You should constantly be in sneak and trying to avoid enemies.
Once you get into the casino, it gets easier and the story picks up. It's really a great DLC, and the end is amazing.

it's kind of frustrating that i keep getting wrecked by these gas bombing, spear-throwing ghost faggots even though i'm a level 33 with maxed out strength and melee weapons...and it doesn't help that the plasma rifle you have to start with only has like 24 shots and that there aren't any other guns you can find (not that i know of, at least)

Don't just vote in the poll and then walk away either, I want some explanations  Personally I'd choose the free airfare because being able to travel to any place in the world has always been a dream of mine. Of course there are other expenses that come with traveling but I'd argue that not worrying about airfare would make my dream so much more possible.
