if hurricanes were given more intimidating names more people would take them seriously. imagine a category 5 storm named Hurricane Harbinger of Terror rolling through the caribbean. i was having this conversation a little bit ago and i came to realize that i've probably gotten closer than the average person to dancing with the devil. when i was about a year old, my brother and i were hanging out near the pool while my mom was cooking on the grill. apparently i stumbled in and was floating underwater for at least a couple minutes while my brother, who was only 2 years old, was laughing at me. luckily my mom checked on us at the right time and managed to jump in and save me before i drowned to death. maybe not even a year after that i fell into the pool and almost drowned again, but this time nobody was around except for my Aunt who was watching me while my parents were working. she said it was the scariest moment of her life; i'm just wondering what was going through my head at the time... And last year a group of friends and i traveled downtown to go to this huge zombie-themed block party in the city called ZombiCon. As the party was winding down somebody pulled a gun and opened fire into the crowd. i was maybe 200 feet or so away from the shooter and can distinctly remember hearing 5 vicious pops from the gunfire, turning around and seeing somebody lying on the floor with a pool of blood starting to form...that was easily the most terrified i have ever felt in my life plus there was my failed suicide attempt in high school but i don't like talking about that

last weekend a group of close friends and i took a fat road trip from here in southwest Florida to Baltimore, Maryland for a 2 day music festival. while we were super stoked for the festival, one could argue we were equally excited to finally get the chance to visit Philadelphia and feast on an authentic Philly cheesesteak.
let's just say i finally understand why It's Always Sunny is so goddamn funny. literally every person i spoke to while i was there was an asshole, and i was straight up called a faggot for wearing a tie-dye shirt. to top it all off, the spot we went to for our cheesesteaks charged $10 for maybe a 6 inch sandwich and it did not blow me away in the slightest.
moral of the story: fuck philly

when people are just completely averse to engaging in deep conversation? i find constant small talk to be such a bore and i have to suffer through it day-in and day-out, but when i want to bring the conversation to a more interesting and thought-provoking level, most people shy away instantly.

with festival season fast approaching, let's get in the spirit by sharing our favorite performances!
for my spring break this year i was able to make it to a 3-day festival where i got to see Kendrick Lamar perform live, which is easily the best show i have ever witnessed. it was not only impressive that he's able to perform his studio records with a live band playing behind him, but how he was able to electrify the crowd during "m.a.a.d city" and "alright" was amazing.
my favorite EDM performances are Bassnectar and Odesza, both of which i've seen live twice. the second time i saw Bassnectar was the craziest hour and a half of my life. you don't know what throwing down means until you witness this guy in person throwing down his insanely unique beats. On the other hand, Odesza's calming style really elevated me to a new level and was an amazing closing act.
i'm adding another festival under my belt this weekend so my favorites are definitely subject to change
