NaughtyDog has been consistently producing quality games even if not for the story
I'm not writing off any story as overly pretentious, just generic action/adventure ones with nothing but cliches and drama. The Metal Gear series did story and gameplay fantastically before TPP, but that's because Konomi knew they were making a GAME first.
TLOU had great gameplay The rarity of resources, the strength of enemies, and the emphasis on stealth built up tense gameplay You're mistaking story for being completely separate from games It seems that you think games are purely gameplay and story is an afterthought Not true Games are in a unique position to deliver great stories because you're interacting with it instead of just passively viewing it This provides opportunity for that emotional impact we all love You're going to blame them for fulfilling that potential?
