Can someone explain net neutrality to me without language like “the internet as we know it will be DESTROYED”
From what I understand, Net Neutrality keeps ISPs from throttling or blocking access websites preferentially. The major fear is that without it, ISPs could start charging users for access to certain sites.
The most common analogy is to cable packages. Instead of for channels, like an "HBO package" or whatever they do these days it would be for sites like a "social media package."
There is a whole lot of fear mongering going on with it but it is all based in incredibly valid concerns. The people against net neutrality tend to be conservitards who have been somehow convinced that de-regulating companies is a good idea and that if given infinite freedom, companies would NEVER do anything immoral to turn a profit
Why wouldn't people just go to ISPs that don't do that? Seems like competition would fix that problem no?
