The Flood / Re: What Are You Going To Be When You Grow Up?

Use to want to be an Astrophysicist.

Not smart enough.

No idea what I'm doing with my life now but my only two talents are writing and art so I figure I'll do something with one or both of them.

No one is ever smart enough to do anything

That's why we have the rest of our lives to get smart at it
I know physicists. They're inherently smarter than I am and I doubt it has anything to do with my upbringing. I consider myself a bright kid, but mathematics has never been something I've been able to grasp at the pace that's necessary for me to have a career in the field. I'm disappointed that I had to give up the idea of becoming a physicist, or an astronomer, but it's probably in my best interests not to go after something I'm very likely incapable of achieving. And not even necessarily because of the time and effort I would need to "get it." I think most, if not everybody, is capable of understanding "difficult" concepts given they put the time, effort, and thought into them. But the amount of time, effort, and thought I would need to become a successful physicist outweighs my passion for the subject, so I wouldn't enjoy the process.

There is no such thing as inherent smartness

The brain can be hard wired so that you start out more adept at one thing but it can be changed so that you can get better at what you love

It's the ambition you lack
I lack the ambition I use to have, but I don't view that as something wrong with me anymore. I wouldn't enjoy the process of slaving over painfully difficult mathematical and conceptual ideas for who-knows-how-many-years. It's not worth my time to do so much study for a job I wouldn't want to have. I don't know, I'm just going in undeclared and seeing where shit takes me.

Just make sure you don't regret it

I am going to school to become an EMT. Not sure how many years I will stick with that.

And how's it working out?
It is difficult but I am enjoying it.

Good

Unrealistically, I want to produce and direct my own video games. Similar to watch Hideo Kojima does (he's kind of my idol).

Realistically? I want to write the music or write the scripts for video games.

And why not become a video game director?

A Psychologist

What led you to that path?
I have a knack for helping people with problems (Not trying to gloat at all)
and my father is a Psychologist.

But why a psychologist and not a teacher or something?
I don't like teachers. >_>
I prefer talking to people 1 on 1

Alright then

You taking steps to get there?
Yep.
Taking courses that help lead to it and I'm gonna be majoring in it likely.

Good

Which German Empire?

In a few billion years, the universe will expand to the point where everything is so far apart and used up that no stars or well... pretty much anything will be able to form

It'd be eternal darkness

Pretty depressing

Not in a "few billion". We are talking about the upper estimate of 10^10^120 here.

It's been a while since I watched the documentary
The universe will be viable for life as we know it(used loosely) for another couple trillion years.

What?

Yes, for a few trillion years, before entropy makes life, computation and work impossible.

Not in this solar system, though, since we have under a billion years left before the Sun's expansion makes it impossible for life to exist on Earth.

Also, this is only life as we know it. We are carbon-based life forms. There could be life that is based on another element, like methane.

Oh wait nevermind

I read his response wrong
