The Flood / 'Villains' that did literally nothing wrong
« on: March 08, 2015, 06:55:00 PM »

Pic related. Was he supposed to be an antagonist?

>saw how Bureaucratic and incompetent the Republic had become
>destabilized the growing theocracy of the Jedi, and ended a potentially dangerous Jedi/Republic coalition
>had a dream, pursued it till the end
>allowed force sensitive users to achieve their maximum potential
>only reason he was demonized was because of 'le Sith boogeyman' propaganda being espoused by the Republic and Jedi

Captain America - Meta:

Unwavering commitment to both personal and economic freedom. Will fervently defend his ideas no matter the cost, although he comes off as a bit socially awkward occasionally.

Iron Man - Gojira:

Immensely intelligent and vastly witty. Will never admit how intelligent he is but deep down he definitely knows it.

Thor - challenger:

Stubborn and passionate. Can come off a bit aggressive occasionally but knows how to have fun at the same time.

Hulk - Verbatim:

Pretty self explanatory here. Perhaps he has a softer side to him but I've never seen it.

Nick Fury - Cheat:

Secretly a manipulative mastermind behind everything.

Serious / Extremist beliefs aren't the issue
« on: March 04, 2015, 12:51:57 PM »
Extremism itself is not morally reprehensible if the core beliefs that brought radicalism into fruition are not inherently violent or pernicious. For example, an extremist vegetarian would hardly pose a threat to society because of their paralyzing pacifism, and reluctance to harm a living creature, much akin to Jainism. The use of the word extremism has almost become synonymous with throwing the term "racism" around to curtail any sort of genuine criticism of an idea. It's really frustrating.

And yes, this is a thinly veiled anti Islam thread

I'm inclined to agree. Most of my peers and friends definitely seem to place a higher value on progressiveness, equality and the censorship of opposing ideals they consider "damaging", as opposed to free expression, self evaluation and critical thinking. Now, I only have anecdotal evidence on my behalf, so I could be talking out my ass on this one, but in Britain at least, there definitely seems to be an ingrained politically correct culture that has come into fruition over the past couple decades.

When are we going to bite the fucking bullet and realise that the majority of these cases are being perpetrated by men of a Pakistani heritage? Can we please get over this paralyzing fear of being labeled "racist" so we can actually bring these scumfucks to justice and the people who swept it under the rug?

Fuck man, when did Britain become such a pussified culture.

The Flood / In depth analysis of the opening scene of TDKR
« on: February 24, 2015, 08:14:59 PM »
It took me years but I think I've finally grasped Nolan's genius. You see, the plane scene is all symbolism, it represents the battle between the forces of heaven and Hell. Bane is a synonym for adversary, and guess who's name translates to The Adversary?

When CIA brought Dr. Pavel, he was trying to get him to heaven, or "on board." When Mosquito Man brought the other members, CIA (obviously representing St Peter) initially refused them, but Mosquito Man reminded him that he has a duty to redeem them, stating they work for Bane (Satan).

When CIA says "first one to talk gets to stay on my aircraft" he's actually trying to get them to repent their sins, and "lotta loyalty for a hired gun" refers to the fact that Satan only considers them to be puppets, not real people (as further demonstrated when Bane leaves one behind).

The symbolism continues. Bane says it doesn't matter who he is, which is obviously a reference that evil is evil, regardless of the man behind it. Bane's reliance on his mask is a symbol of his eternal curse for his desertion, as it would be extremely painful if he had to face up to what he did, though Bane is quick to remind CIA that he isn't a big guy compared to those such as Michael.

The "Plane crash" and Dr Pavel being snatched are symbolic of Dr. Pavel deciding to give in to temptation and join the league of shadows.

It truly is poetry. I've only scratched the surface of Nolan's masterpiece.

The Flood / Why the fuck can't I stop watching the Walking Pleb?
« on: February 24, 2015, 02:44:58 PM »
And no, I don't mean that in a good way.

Ever since All Mighty Cunts shafted Frank Darabont and slashed the budget in half to save a couple $$ I've been tuning into this show to see if it ever picks up. Every time, every damn time a new episode is released I actually pour in an hour of my life to watch it, hoping, expecting that there will actually be character development, advancement of the plot, and to not just be another FUCKING FILLER EPISODE.

Is it inertia? Am I really a pleb? Does anyone else watch the show just because it's routine now, and not because it's actually good?

Serious / Still not convinced that modern feminism is inherently fascistic?
« on: February 09, 2015, 09:41:54 AM »
So recently I got into a heated Facebook discussion with a fervent feminist that wants people to sign a petition to actively try and ban the new 50 Shades Of Grey movie, because apparently it endorses rape and encourages women to get into "hard-core BDSM". I basically pointed out that although the source material is an abysmal piece of writing, and as much as you disagree with what the movie is trying to convey, it isn't your prerogative to try and censor art/information simply because it doesn't sit well with you. I also highlighted that little to no evidence suggests that media or art influences an individual's behaviour. She kind of flipped her shit and what ensues is 100% pure retardation. Bit of a long read ahead:

Quote
Me: I always find it hilarious when people try to conflate reality with art and entertainment. And I use the word 'art' to describe 50 Shades very loosely. Idiots going to idiot.

Her: Nice... Art is a product of the society we live in - the fact that a novel about a man abusing a naive woman has been so popular is a reflection of the trivialisation and romanticisation of the reality that many people actually face. Many people after reading the book or seeing the film will want to experiment with bdsm and its only fair that they're warned that how it is portrayed in the book is unhealthy and abusive.

Me: There's absolutely no evidence to suggest titillating or provocative art impacts people's behaviour. If people are into BDSM then they're into BDSM. A movie isn't going to suddenly realign their sexual orientation.

Her: As I said, I didn't even talk about the fact that its glamourising abuse, but that its portraying BDSM as a community to be that of an abusive one. Its saying that rape and drugging girls to do what you want is how BDSM, D/s relationships work and it isn't. People will read it and clearly enjoy it and will go attempt to get involved in a BDSM community only to fall prey to someone with bad intentions.

It is a terrible book in that it is portraying utter lies as facts and because people don't know any different they don't attempt to question it. One of my friends read the book and asked me if I liked to be drugged, used and abused and practically raped, saying that whatever I involve myself in is stupid, dangerous, rapey and totally ridiculous, that I was being used and they lectured me on something they know nothing about.

This book took popular media by storm and it is utter lies. That's what pisses me off. You don't watch a movie of people being murdered and think 'that looks great I want to murder people' but some people will read or watch this and see the abuse as BDSM, sexualised and may put themselves in a position to become used and hurt and will start accepting it where it is wrong.

It isn't boosting a signal on domestic violence.

Its sexualizing it, giving it a false name and making people like me who rely on trust and safety look reckless and like we are idiots allowing ourselves to be used by men. He made her sign a contract as a virgin, ignores her safe words, starts to fear him and hide things from him, he uses alcohol to sway her and rapes her.

... Then everyone says wow Omfg hot I love BDSM when it isn't fckn BDSM at all.

I'm done. Defend it all you want, its not calling a spade a spade and is setting a lot of curious innocent naive girls up for a downfall.

Me: I'd just like to remind you that the book was written by a woman, marketed towards women, and the majority of the reader base are also funnily enough, women. It's not some ethereal patriarchal conspiracy constructed by men so they can rape women more easily, or whatever kind of ludicrous narrative you're going for. Is it really indicative that these women are actively seeking to trivialize abuse against their gender by endorsing a sexually provocative book, or is more probable that they simply enjoy the art form and want to fully immerse themselves in their sexual desires? I think it's obvious the latter is more accurate, but whatever keeps the feminist delusional cogs whirring.

Also, the whole "if you watch/read/listen to this piece of art, you're more likely to commit X" is a fucking retarded argument. It's the exact same kind of argument that school gate mums use to try and get violent videogames banned. "GTA V makes my son want to kill prostitutes!" No, you're just a shitty parent that relies too much on appeal to emotions to get what you want instead of using actual Empirical evidence.

Daily reminder that these people are the new fascists.

The Flood / Daily reminder that Sauron did nothing wrong
« on: February 06, 2015, 01:39:45 PM »

Sauron is like the archetypal evil overlord. He's got massive armies of orcs. He has a headquarters made of volcanoes. And, he did... you know, he did all of those... things. And... And what exactly? Do tell me, because throughout the entire 2000-hour run of the Lord Of The Rings trilogy, I couldn't find a single reason why everyone demonized Sauron like he was a Obama at a Tea Party rally.
