I thought hardcore mode for New Vegas was broken and annoying to begin with. It probably doesn't help that it isn't the best combat.

God, I forgot how much the AI sucked if you formed a defensive line (I usually have archers, slingers and catapults behind a defensive line of Spears with swords and axes covering the flanks).  They usually just throw themselves at you and end up routing like the fucking plebs that they are.

Then I'll just have my mounted cavalry mop up the rest :)
AI was never amazing when you're defending/sieging . On the field they're not as bad, but obviously won't do as well as real people.

It makes me long for the combat of Medieval 2,  where the AI actually changed tactics according to how you play.

...and it makes me fear for medieval 3 of they continue using their current engine.
They're using this engine for Warhammer I believe.

I also like how we're judging it when we haven't even played it yet.

Why don't you actually give it a shot and form your own "intelligent" opinion before falling to the masses online who suddenly think because they played Fallout 1 and 2, AFTER they were introduced to the series with 3/NV, that they know what's better and what isn't.

Hey guys, sorry this took a few days. Here with the 2nd update.

Update 2
Here with a 2nd update. Not as much as the first, but still some important things.

The first thing to happen is I actually managed to get on more friendly terms with people. Not a bunch of red faces now, but people who are more or less indifferent to me, and slowly liking me more. I managed to secure a non-aggression pact with the FILTHY FRENCH, so that's good.

However the thorn at my side was securing the north I can't fight a war on two fronts just yet, so I need to do something.

Battle 1

With siege equipment in tow, I was ready to scale the walls and break the gates of these backwards barbarians.

They naturally sent all of their forces to meet my men. The battle would be won or lost depending on this skirmish.

However the problem was they didn't hold to a single chokepoint (gotta love the AI) but instead tried to meet me on multiple fronts. This proved to be their downfall, as their forces were quickly outflanked and routed, allowing me to push in. I killed their general in the process here too, which sent a moral shock to their entire army

(Note: there are 3 tiers of units, tier 1 being early/low grade units, tier 3 being top end. If a general dies in the midst of battle, the tier 1 will basically break easily with any sign of wrong doings, tier 2 will be shaken, and tier 3 will still fight on. These were tier 1, and usually make up the bulk of Barbarian armies)

In the end I managed to surround the last unit with pikemen holding them on one end, and infantry and cavalry destroying them from the back.

Naturally, a decisive victory for me.

BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GO- I mean Christ...

Bye bye Picts. You won't be missed.

An interesting thing to note as I pushed further south to wipe out the Caledonians, was the title boy was born. They play a cool cutscene too (give it a watch).

YouTube

Attila is born. Aka: Huns are now overpowered as shit for a while. Good thing I got out of there.

Nothing to note here. Simply auto-resolved the attacks from the Caledonians and took them out. EZ-PZ

And now here is the update of the map. As you can see, the entire North is ours, and we now control 1/3rd of Britannia Inferior (smug Rome names much?). The faction below me is the Geats (who somehow sailed all the way from Viking land over to there and got a city...), and below that is the Britain faction. Both are pretty even with me on strength level, but to the west is the FILTHY Irish (Ebdanians). They're at war with... all of them lol, so I think we'll attack them next as the logical choice.

And here is a random video for your pleasure.

That's a game I've honestly always wanted to try, given how much I like Revengence's combat.
Same creators

Because you're stuck...

I killed 9/10 characters through my game. I didn't know the concept of allies in battle, because I had killed all who offered their help.
So you're solution to being stuck is to kill people who help you out? How do you not understand the concept of allies in battle? If someone talks to you and doesn't attack you, maybe they have something to say. This isn't just Dark Souls, it's any game.

Yes, and maybe they also have cool gear that I used throughout the whole game.

Spoiler
Looking at the guy who praises the sun.

Funny story about me killing people so quickly:
I had just come out of a lot of battles, and I had like no health left, and no estus flasks, but I talked to this guy, and then I attacked him and won. I used his body armour for the rest of the game.

I had nothing special on me. My main gear was: armour of "Solair"- is that his name? - Gauntlets and boots of whatever, Zweihandr from start to finish, and then varying second weapons, and varying shields.

I only let two NPCs live. Ay Zwimae guy, and the guy above the ghost church in Anno Londo

Easiest boss battle was the dreaded Smough and Ornstein. I can't believe people thought they were hard. I died like 3 times, but I realized how to beat them after the first time. The other times I died was from nervousness.
Okay

Killing them for their gear for cosplaying is actually understandable. I wouldn't do it first playthrough (or do it right before NG+ so you can get it :P), but yeah.

dragon age origins is better
I love DA:O

But it's nowhere near the best game of all time lol. It's Baldur's Gate with an even more generic story.

Kys for having bad taste
Forget "best game ever", what did it do better than Baldur's Gate?

The story is worse.
Mechanically, it's the same thing. The only difference is isometric gameplay vs third-person.
You can't even say characters are written better: they're likeable, yes, but definitely not better written.
Pillars of Eternity is pretty amazing. I say that because it's like the old school games like Baldur's Gate.

It honestly reminds me of like a isometric more gritty Oblivion.

Picts are now ded and sailed away far north.

What are you, an unbeliever?
I lied, they're just kinda chilling next to northern England. I'll make another entry tonight maybe.

Wait what the fuck

Mantis is controlled by whoever feels the greatest need for revenge and takes on aspects of that person. That's why Skull Face wonders WHOOOOOOOOOOOOO is controlling Mantis at the end of the game; he's shocked that somebody could feel more hate than he does.
Is he controlled or influenced? I forget how it works.

Speaking of Mantis

YouTube

This cutscene (and the MGS1 one) is better than anyone in 5. A a comment said.

"The whole scene is a masterpiece . This is the best cut-scene I have ever seen and still stays with me after all these years. The philosophical sentiment behind it changed the way I see life, people and society (to some extent).  There are so many different layers to it.

The contradiction between what Psycho Mantis says and believes and his finals words (it feels kind of nice) shows that much of human psychology is based on the examples give to us during childhood, yet it is never too late to break the shackles of your upbringing or what you are told to believe if you follow your heart (opening the door). IT highlights the volatility of human kindness and how quickly perspectives can shift when seen from a different angle."

Call me simple minded.
You'd probably love Gurren Lagann. It won't give you as many mindfucks as Evangelion and is probably more engaging to watch.

At least it was to me. Plus it has some of the best music you'd hear.

They're a bit divisive. Some people (like me) really like them, other people hate them for not being an exact retelling of the original show.
We got a movie for the anime ending. Why would you want an EXACT retelling of the same shit? Just so it looks better? That's retarded.

I see it like a VN where it's a different route, and for that I find it much much better. I'm not gonna waste 4 hours re-watching the same lines, plot points, and pacing all for the sake of better animation.

Greeeeat series for a lot of reasons. Ambiguous story, wtf moments, and easily impacted the anime genre as we know it.

You don't have to like it to understand the impact it has.

a second impact :^)

According to the wiki, he sent Intrude n313 as a warning to let him know what's gonna happen.

So he sent Snake expecting him to fail, but it seems they both underestimated Snake. I mean, Big Boss did it twice seeing as he died by literally a lighter and some spray lol.

Their style changed, though.
It's a cinematic though, so I wouldn't really put it hand in hand. Besides, odds are it was early too. Teaser Trailers rarely represent the final game.
