Serious / Texas campus carry law
« on: October 10, 2015, 01:58:54 AM »
http://www.cnn.com/2015/10/09/us/texas-campus-carry-law/index.html

Long story short, this bill allows people to walk onto campus with a concealed gun when they meet the requirements. The irony is this

Quote
The bill many know as the "campus carry" law is scheduled to go into effect August 1, 2016, the 50-year anniversary of the UT Tower sniper shooting, one of the first mass murders on a college campus in America.

What are your thoughts on this? One of the professors brought up a point we talked about last year in my English class in that "You will stymie discussion -- heated discussion in areas -- in the classroom." which I think is a good point (we brought up that you wouldn't be so bold to argue with someone if they were carrying a gun).

Anyway, my personal opinion is it's a bad fucking idea. I'm just waiting for this to blow up (no pun intended) in the bills face. America really is just getting weird with guns. I'd honestly drop out of my college if that bill passed here.

Because I'm frankly sick and tired of 8-bit indie shit.
Verby

I challenge you to actually try out the demo, because it's very creative. You promote creativity, and this is one of the few I think does it amazingly well. Read the top comment review on the page and it summarizes it perfectly.

but really, this theme song mixes 8bit and new so amazingly well.

I don't think I've ever played an RPG where I've had so many opportunities to kill someone, yet I don't want to harm a fly.

Because you'll never get to see me again, I understand now.

Thanks Lucina.

I really enjoy Letters From Iwo Jima.
This too. That movie was way too sad and the theme just captured the loss perfectly.

Seeing it from the Japanese side really does open up some eyes. They captured that hopeless feeling so amazingly well.

Overrated as fuck.
That doesn't mean it's not a great movie. Things can be overrated and still be insanely well done. Like... Zelda games.

Full Metal Jacket is the only other acceptable answer.

The first half of that movie is the only good half.

I think it negated any of what you said seeing as they did an asinine amount of damage regardless of what build you were. It just became hard hitting central with them. I'd agree with you more if you had to actually infuse your weapons at the blacksmith for said effects, but not just simple powders to power em up.

Hopefully Dark Souls 3 won't be Buff Souls 3 though because buffs killed PvP in DS2, along with soul memory.
Not really it just added strategic depth, suddenly some weapons weren't objectively worse than others because they were arbitrarily given less stats, buff meta allows your choice of weapon to involve a lot more about the weapon's moveset.

People look at DS1 PvP with so much bias, poise was such a massive barrier to entry for builds that you only saw two or three builds.

but yeah soul memory is what the fuck tier design
Buffs made the weapon go to max damage, regardless of your build or how much you put into the said skill tree. It'd be fine if they were rare but everyone was using them because they were so easy to get.

It helped ruin builds and PvP.

You mean its realistic?

Nigga you ever went from an interior to exterior when its snowy as fuck? Oh right you live in California, you haven't.
Who the fuck cares about realism in a Star Wars game?
And here we have our problem.
There's no problem here
I understand Star Wars isn't realistic, but when it comes to the fundamental elements in the world, it should be. Snow won't be green, the sun won't be purple, and lasers hitting someone won't make them go 50 feet in the air.

Believe it or not, sci-fi stuff has to be grounded in SOME realism, hence the "science" part of science-fiction. Though there is a mixture of fiction too, there has to be consistency.

If Miyazaki is leading it then what does that tell you? The only thing B-team lacked was the direction OF Miyazaki, because they still did a lot of things right in Dark Souls 2.

Hopefully Dark Souls 3 won't be Buff Souls 3 though because buffs killed PvP in DS2, along with soul memory.

People still watch this zombie show turned drama llama?

I honestly lost interest at season 3 because of how they handled the pacing. It felt like after season 1, any sense of wonder was gone.
Season 3 was pretty hit-and-miss, I thought.
I might get back into it via pirating, but for now Game of Thrones has been the more consistent of the bunch for me.

That's old EU, non canon. I'm talking about what is actually canon.
The 501st is still canon. Anything AFTER episode 6 is not canon because they want to give the writers actual freedom, which I completely understand.
The 501st as an organization is still canon. Them being composed of clones, however, is not.
I don't believe that's true. They still make references to it in the canon stuff like I just linked.

Why are there female Stormtroopers
I don't think all Stormtroopers were clones, could be wrong though

They aren't. Actually, by the time of A New Hope none of them are. The Empire phased out clones in favor of recruits shortly after Revenge of The Sith.

They still used clones, but they began to adopt new templates and accept recruits after a failed uprising on Kamino. But the Fett clones eventually got largely phased out as they died in combat, leaving the 501st/ Vaders Fist as the only Fett legion for the longest time.

They still used clones to field and train a large number of soldiers in a short amount of time, but they came from a number of templates and were supplemented by recruits. They never phased them out entirely.
A few of the 501st (what a cool name) knew about the chip thing the Emperor did and learned of his whole plan, and defected to the Rebels. They're in season 2 of that disney one, which is ACTUALLY not bad.

Quote
Clone troopers were largely retired from service in the decade after Order 66, with conscripted or volunteer soldiers mostly becoming the force of the Empire. Very few remained in service by the time that ANH started, because of their accelerated aging process. I don't know how familiar you are with Star Wars canon, but Rex and a few other clones managed to learn about the conspiracy against the Jedi and come to help the Rebellion later on (Clones in the new canon were forced to obey Order 66 by inhibitor chips placed in their brains, and once the order was made, they basically became brain-dead slaves to Palpatine, they never would have turned against the Jedi on their own). There isn't a problem with there being female stormtroopers.

and the cool trailer
