My only complaint about it is the lack of content. Doesn't justify $60 in my eyes. Maybe when all the DLC is out and there is a killer sale.

What shadyness are you thinking of? Trust me when I say they're not nearly as mixed a bag as they are in FO 1/2/NV/4. They're not supposed to be super duper good guys.
I don't know--I just don't really get good vibes from 'em. Something seems off. I mean, the first time they saved me was cool, and fighting Super Mutants with them on the way to GNR was fun, but they aren't exactly very kind individuals. They come off like corrupt police officers (gee, how topical). They treat everyone who isn't them with disdain or dismissal.

They're kind of elitist pricks, which gives me a little bit of insight into their true nature.

I dunno, but I don't really get a "white knight" impression out of them.
A good analysis. You'd be right kind of, if you were playing any other Fallout. They're a bunch of hoarders who are elitist and think humanity is too immature to use the technology they're taking. Hence why the Outcast in FO3 are so... dickish, but not exactly evil to you. They'll help you out, but they'll be annoyed about it. The actual faction in FO3 however is just way too white knightish. They don't exhibit any flaws, they try to government the region, and provide relief effort for the citizens.

That's not BAD, but it's not the brotherhood. It'd be like making Space Marines in the 40k universe suddenly champion human rights and free thinking.

They treat ghouls like absolute shit.
Correct: They SAY they do, but they never ever EVER show it in Fallout 3. They never show anything bad about them in Fallout 3.

The Brotherhood of Steel is known for being a mixed batch, but Bethesda just goes "NO THEY'RE THE GOOD GUYS! SHINING BEACONS OF LIGHT!"
Really? I haven't been getting that impression of them so far. Some stuff they do is good, other stuff seems... pretty shady.

guess i gotta play more

Go to the northeast corner of the map to a small town called Old Olney. There was a big battle there between the Enclave and Brotherhood of Steel so there's a lot of dead bodies there. At the center of town, there's a body with the unbreakable T-51B Winterized Armor.

B:
Fallout 3
what do you dislike about fallout 3 again

i assume the problems i've been having with it so far are part of it
The story was horrible and the factions (or lack thereof) are just so black and white. The Brotherhood of Steel is known for being a mixed batch, but Bethesda just goes "NO THEY'RE THE GOOD GUYS! SHINING BEACONS OF LIGHT!" And then to clash with them, they just randomly throw the Enclave in there for whatever reason even though it's extremely unlikely they'd travel 2500+ miles and settle in DC. A lot of the story also literally made no sense.

This explains it better, but it's very spoilery of the main story, so look at your own risk

It was so bad really that in Fallout 4, Bethesda basically retcons the BoS from 3. The writing in 4 is much much better.

]>mgs3 over 2
>majora that low but you like NV story and majora has a lot
>reach over CE
Yes, MGS3 over MGS2. Just because MGS2 has dank references about the internet and predicting it a bit, that doesn't stop it from the fanfictional writing fest Kojima did. MGS 3 was much more of a masterpiece.

I didn't say anything about NV story to Majora Mask story, just which one I enjoyed more. I didn't like Majora's Mask all that much because I always felt it was in the shadow of Ocarina of Time, and a lot of the gameplay/dungeons I played were just meh too me. I just didn't like the world.

Never said anything about Halo at all, but yes I would place Reach over CE, because CE literally had no story, level design would make me want to shoot myself, and the gunplay itself was sloppy and unrefined.

Chris Avellone won't be coming back for Fallout even if Obsidian made the next one. He left.

Besides, Bethesda was nice enough for the game to take place on the complete opposite end of the country so it didn't mess with his work, and they were kind enough to talk about the lore of the originals in Fallout 4.

He may not like some of the changes, but Todd and the like respect what he's done to it. It's just natural for different developers to do different things, much like 343 to Halo.

Honestly, call me silly but I like the new system, the old skill system was pretty simple, and it made skills like lockpicking have no difference between having like 25 and 49, so there was a bunch of wasted points as you tried to hit the 25/50/75/100 milestones to unlock the next tier computer or lock
Skyrim had the right way of doing it using that system - You could attempt to pick any lock, but the "sweet spot" of higher skilled locks was exponentially harder if you didn't reach the skill level. I.e. Expect to break a shit-ton of lockpicks on a Master lock if you had 15 in lockpicking.

Back on topic, sneaking makes the game OP. Crit. Kills on enemies you are [HIDDEN] to, doubling damage (and that's excluding added damage from stealth-oriented perks, or combo-ing it with VATS and it's related perks).

Any difficult enemies/clusterfuck of bad guys just require a Doctor's prescription of:
-Buffout
-MedX
-Psycho
-(Optional) Jet, for spamming VATS. Apply directly to face.
-100 caps for the addiction treatment afterwards.

Also, the only custom weapon you'll ever need is the Dart Gun. Doesn't do much damage, but instantly cripples both legs, create for melee enemies such as Mirelurks and Behemoths. Major advantage is it render Deathclaws totally powerless.
New Vegas had the problem of drugs too, as well as sneaking. Best way to ignore it is just don't go into those skills/use them. A lot of games hand you the tools to make it easier for you. Up to you as a player to handicap yourself. It makes for good roleplay too.

There's 70 perks, each usually with multiple levels bringing the total to 270 something
oh yeah, I love bringing the percentages of the buff I got from 20% to 40%.
Please tell me you're joking.
I was just pointing out the total number of levels, unfortunately most of them are like that yeah

Also looking it up, Fallout 3 had 58 perks
Hmmm

I'm sure they'll just add different pictures and stuff to Fallout 4's perks with DLC and stuff.

No I'm being serious I would kill her if her bitch ass wasn't essential
Fantastic

but her voice acting isn't "bad".
it's subjective
I don't think it is. If you want bad voice acting, look at this.

YouTube

You obviously know more about VA than I do since last I heard it's like a side occupation of yours or something and sure there are objective aspects to voice acting and its quality. I'm just saying I subjectively do no like Piper's VA because I find her voice to be abrasive and annoying in my opinion. Objective aspects of it though; it is obviously that Piper's VA knows what she is doing and how to properly project emotion into her voice. Once again it's just that I do not like the way she sounds.

So sure it's not entirely subjective but it's not entirely objective either, just like music.
Alright, fair enough. See, explaining your point helps out a lot more. I respect that onion. Funny too because I was gonna say "not liking someones voice is different than bad voice acting". I see where you're coming from.

Edit: I'm surprised you remember the voice acting thing and me as well.

literally the worst character in the game
All of those are opinions, and I find them funny/great, but to say her voice acting is shit is objectively wrong. Do you WANT to hear bad voice acting? Because that's not one of them.

Yeah I saw that picture posted. It's true :(
honestly I really liked the gameplay. The removal of skills and focus on perks did exactly what I expected, by condensing skills in just a bunch of boring shit and removing depth from the game, making mods the main way to create damage instead of a micromanagement, the removal of repair basically just removing more depth, ect.
But the gunplay was really nice and the atmosphere was more like fallout 1's, which is better than the train wreck that was 3's.
Honestly, the removal of skills into this new perk system hasn't been as bad as I would have thought. It still adds some depth to it if you ask me since you still put how much damage something has into something. I like how you can mess with your special too and specialize into something.

All this talk about New Vegas makes me realize just how shit the dialogue wheel/diversity of it is in Fallout 4. That's going to be the main complaint after the first wave of playthroughs and hype settles down. I just know it is.
I am enjoying the chance to be sarcastic at almost everything

but it's not worth sacrificing all other diversity
Like, the voice acting/conversations themselves are lovely.

It's just the damn wheel itself and the ability to not say no is the bad thing.
