I didn't give it a go for a while due to other things in life, and it seems I made the right decision since the Directors Cut (better graphics, more voice acting, balances, additional stuff, etc) came out last month.
Any tips other than anything Super Bunnyhop said in his video (invest in INT, medic, surgery, name players for specializations)?
Also, I did play a little bit for like an hour, and just played some more now before realizing I wasn't playing Directors Cut (I hope I don't have to type out their bios again), and I love how much it's just like Fallout 1 and 2 in the AP/weapon sense, and how they literally call you the Desert Rangers.

If our dog would nip or bite another dog or someone he needed a slap aside the head, because that needs to stop fucking immediately, not gradually with scolding or positive reinforcement. Only the dog was only barking, and if that was the case, you get a proper muzzle. You don't tape the mouth shut.

Not sure how I feel about this game. I'm level 10 with about 10 hours played.
I just don't have a drive to really keep playing. I will, because I have nothing else to do, but I've had the game for 3 days and I already am not excited about it. Maybe I expected too much, but I'm feeling very meh so far. Everything feels way too damn similar, and the CONSTANT little bugs and freezes, the retarded AI, and the unnecessary and annoying changes to the dialogue, all way down the experience for me.
It just baffles me that this is the result of over 4 years of development. A game that feels last gen in almost every way. Very confused how this game is getting so much praise, because when you look past the great combat, this game is incredibly dull.
It's because they're using the same engine since 2002. Morrowinds engine with the same console commands and all. People get on Call of Duty for using the same engine, but Bethesda are just as bad. They have no excuse too given how long their development cycles are.

One of the main reasons I didn't play it was because I hadn't played the others, and now I found out I don't need to?

You don't need to. But having read the books and playing the first two would just make your experience better. It's the best game this year. By far. Go buy it now. It's quite long too. Which is good. Took me like 60 hours to finish the game. And in those 60 hours I focused mainly on the main story and barely did other things.
Yeah, playing other games in a series always adds more to the experience. Be it understanding the lore better, references, or whatever else. Still, what with the Witcher 1 being very bad, and 2 being a game I couldn't really get into, 3 is always getting rave reviews.

The Witcher 3 is a fantastic game
What's it about, family? Do I need to play the previous ones?
The story's separate from the previous ones, it'll tell you all you need to know pretty well and you don't need to play the others to get what's going on
The Witcher is basically about a professional monster hunter called Geralt of Rivia, he's kind of like a medieval Master Chief with superhuman abilities to help him hunt down monsters for a living, it's pretty gritty and dark
Oh that's good. Now I can pirate it just fine.
