Is it unreasonable to think that he checked to see she was breathing, propped her up in case she puked and left before she expired? I would think so yes, because I highly doubt you'd go from blind rage, to going through with meticulous steps to make sure she was "okay". It just doesn't add up to me. Either way, there was no intent to murder or even cause serious harm from what's given. Just because there wasn't an intent (we don't even know that for sure), doesn't excuse the fact he still did. By his own hands. Either way, there is no point in talking about this. The case has already been decided and all that.

People do realize that it's not like the guy shouted "TRANNY FILTH" before punching her in the face and choking the life out of her, right? Sounds like it got heated and he tried to knock her out so he could get away.
He wrapped his hands around her throat until she stopped breathing.
It said she was still breathing when he left her. I think it said stopped moving, which you got confused with, I'll check.
He also testified that Ms. Laude was still breathing but appeared to be unconscious after being put into the arm lock. He said he then brought her to the bathroom to try to revive her and left her slumped over the toilet. He said he then took a taxi back to his ship, where he told a fellow Marine, “I left her unconscious.” Yeah, here it is.
Trans argument aside, I highly doubt his claims. If he did that, he was clearly blinded with rage, and did that out of reaction. I highly doubt he'd suddenly just stop and check her pulse or see if she was breathing when he's already seeing red, and then leave. Odds are he choked her out and that was that.

In actual relevancy to the topic at hand, I believe I read the follow up article that the marine was found guilty, but he got his sentence reduced to like 14 or 15 years or something?
