On a serious note though, I'm more than certain that those countries you mention do get the condemnation they deserve. You just have to keep in mind that the internet gives every idiot (see: Luci) a voice, and the few who cry out loud enough will always be heard more than the masses who mumble.

It's quite literally what you are exposed to and what people choose to focus specifically on. You look at the UN and world leaders, some media sites, and actual people that matter, and you see they actually do focus where it matters.

It's even expected that for the first time in any country in recent history, there are going to be less traffic fatalities than deaths by guns in the US in 2016.
That's a shame. I don't know if it still holds up, but wasn't there more mass shootings than days in the US in 2015?

I don't understand why this whole gun issue is becoming a big problem. Taking guns away isn't going to solve anything, people can still kill even without guns.
Sure, but guns do make it significantly easier, no?
What easier to kill? Sure but lets be honest, would any criminal want to take the chance of giving up their gun? Also we have bows and other range weapons, its not just guns.
That's why we confiscate illegal guns owned by criminals and make it harder for them to get firearms rather than expect them to just turn in their guns.

And the amount of deaths homicides involving other range weapons than guns is miniscule.

The only reason why he have deaths from firearms is because of peoples choices, do guns really kill people? its a tool, its like saying a knife kills people, its a tool, the only reason your killing people with a gun is not the guns fault, its peoples actions.
I don't think anyone argues against that. What people do argue is that guns simply are one of the most lethal and most effective tools we have to commit crimes and kill people. Statistics support that this is the case. No one thinks that guns grow legs and shoot people on their own accord. They just think that it deserves to be regulated differently due to its inherently more lethal capacities.
That, and knives are used for other things besides just hurting people. Guns only existence is to kill another. This is no other use for it.

Unless it can somehow cut a sandwich in a cool way, then get back to me.

ME is the perfect example of sex scenes being bad and there for no reason
YouTube

Ok, silly video aside, completely agreed

It was even really silly how I accidentally hit the paragon option for someone and ended up in a romance with them, I wasn't expecting that to happen at all
Okay that... what? Lol

]Well, not me. As I stated earlier--I really don't care for gore, either. I think violence has its place in fiction--we shouldn't be desensitized by it, but I think violence can be used as a powerful tool to send a message. Is it ever done properly? Not really.

It's a hypocritical point to make because you and I both know how fun it is to kill things in video games. The difference is that I have boundaries--Fallout 3 liked to toe that line sometimes, with the dog decapitations. Wasn't really a fan of that shit.
I agree with the violence thing. I was more speaking of media and peoples perceptions in general. In fact I was thinking of hollywood movies mostly in my eyes when talking about that.

Sex being "natural" is just a bad point. Taking a shit is natural, too, but I don't think you want to see Geralt taking a dump in the woods. Even though that's totally natural.
Uhh, yes I do actually. He has a cute butt.

I'm totally joking ;~;

That's how I view sex. It's no more glamorous, no more beautiful than defecation. It has no place in video games.
Again, I understand your reasons, but I think we'd just have to agree to disagree. I think if done in the right context, it's fine. I think The Witcher nails that aspect. However in games like X-Blades (which is just fanservice galore), it's stupid. So long as the sex scenes and fanservice don't define what the character is, or her character, then I personally have no problems with it.

In the end, we'll just have to agree to disagree. AND I HAVE GOOD TASTES, DAMN YOU!

Fine. Mind telling me why you're offended so easily then?
Because I have standards? And taste?
Are you implying I don't? Triggered.
Well, yes, actually.

If you don't mind sex in media, then you have bad taste. Sorry.
That's a very dogmatic stance you have there.
Well, unless you can demonstrate how I'm wrong, I don't see any single reason why I shouldn't believe I'm right.
Fruit posted a pretty good reason in my opinion. And sex isn't some forbidden thing I don't think. From my point of view (the jedi are evil), we're (Americans especially) so numb to violence, gore, swears, and other atrocious things. Hell we had games shooting civilians in airports, decapitating people, and all sorts of other horrible things. Yet the moment any piece of flesh is shown, especially when it's to a woman the main character is married to (I know you're going to say context doesn't matter, but I feel it does far more so than say, DoA Extreme) and they take some small time for themselves in a world where everything is fucked up, then it's not that bad.

Well personally I don't believe it's that wrong. Sex and nudity isn't something that is really forbidden in my eyes, and to shun such natural things is, in my opinion, silly. Especially when we embrace the other end of the spectrum where we allow violence left and right like it is as common as the sun rising and setting.

That's how I personally feel. I understand your position, but that doesn't mean I have to agree with it.

Fruit you shouldn't be watching nudity. You're too pure and innocent.

Can you just like, make a sex in games = bad thread or something? Or misogyny in video games? It seems every video game falls prey to these two all the time and just dominates the threads. It gets annoying.

Fallout 3 has hookers is in it. It makes sense for the universe.

Yet, there are no pandering sex scenes.

The Witcher has no excuse.
Having sex scenes != Pandering
It's the definition of pandering. They exist solely to pander. That is their primary function.
Besides making sense within the universe and advancing the romance subplots
Just because it makes sense in the universe doesn't make it okay to have them.

Fallout 3 has no sex scenes, but sex still happens.

The only reason you'd show it is to pander.
Fallout 3 also didn't have as tight a narrative or as good of writing.

I wouldn't compare the two at all. The older Fallouts did have sex.

I enjoy these kinds of threads before two people get hung up on the most minuscule of things in the games and then that just dominates the discussion.

No talk on story, or combat, or characters.

Just this. Like it always is.

Yeah... Hayden has never been a good actor.
Except for in AotC and RotS and... basically every movie he's been in.
lol
In Hayden's defense, the writing didn't exactly know how to properly capture a humans emotions. Or make them talk human actually.

The facial features he did to signify his anger were well done if you ask me.
He's bad in every movie he's in
Okay

One question. Does this help get illegal guns from the hands of criminals?

If not, it's fucking pointless and unconstitutional.
I never liked this reasoning. You can't possibly tell me that doing absolutely nothing is the correct solution. I don't know why people can't agree on something almost everyone supports, which is better background checks. It might not stop every attack, but it could help stop some, and take more preventive actions.

His sums up a lot of what people feel on it.

Liam Neeson is a good actor.
Ewan Mcgregor is a good actor
Sam Jackson is a good actor
Natalie Portman is an alright actress
Ian McDiarmind is a good actor

Hayden Christensen is pretty awful
Hayden's better than all of them, except Ewan and Liam.
You're saying Hayden is better than Samuel Jackson? Ehhh, no thanks.

Ewan Mcgregor is the only character from the prequels who was actually top tier (I don't count Liam because he dies in the first awful movie). In fact I'd go so far to say he's one of the better characters in the entire series when compared to others. Even old Ben.

So is Rey Luke's daughter or of Kenobi's decent?

I'm torn. I hope it's the latter.
From what I've seen, and seeing the RT podcast where one of them is a lore nerd on everything, more evidence points to Kenobi descent.

My only warning about Witcher 3 is that it plays a bit differently than most games. It took me a while to get used to the combat, much less the movement.
I've heard from many people that the combat just flat-out sucks ass. Do they just not know how to play, then?
From what I played, the combat is pretty good. It's not too easy either.

Worst type? You've not seen the L Word.

But no, it's not nearly as often or long on screen or camera panning to breasts as GoT is.
Well, the L Word is just straight-up pornography. Game of Thrones is pretty bad, too.

I'm confused as to why you'd make the comparison if they're not nearly as bad as one another, though.
It's the closest thing I could think of with how casual they are in the nude scenes. It just gave me a strong GoT vibe to it.
