So after the DNC beat the RNC in viewings (ratings) every night so far, the Donald is asking people to not watch Hillary's acceptance speech after boasting he got the biggest ratings in history.

Seems a little petty and childish.

How so? It's nice, but if no one cares except for losers like Anita, then why should game companies do it?
Because it's about equality. It doesn't matter who wants it. It's the right thing to do.
Eh

I really liked how he told the story of how he met Hillary but it's a shame he left out how he met Monica :(

You act as if the affair of her husband, nearly twenty years ago, directly impacts her ability to lead.
Never trust a cuckold

I thought the joke he made was kinda funny though

I don't even agree with the man on everything (personally I think his foreign policy is a joke, the Iran deal is bad, etc etc), but the man is one of the best speakers I've ever heard. He can move an entire room and make the weep like babies.

That was one hell of a speech. Even better than his 2004 one I think.

I don't know what the Obama's are drinking, but damn they are some of the best speakers I've ever heard. Michelle's was great a few days ago, and I honestly got even a little emotional over Obama's tonight. First time that's happened to me.

I feel like my mother who always cries over things like this :/. Maybe I'm just getting old.

I'm not particularly surprised at all with the swap in party perspective.
It could just be the message whenever a new election is run after every 8 term cycle. Though I know with Clinton (Bill) it was about the economy, hence the catchphrase "It's the economy, stupid!".

Idk how Dubya went about it. I read he was more about infrastructure and economics before obviously 9/11 happened.

There was no thread on it so why not

I've been tuning in and out, and I mentioned this before. I just find it so trippy how quickly both countries flipped on America being great/being shit, along with the military support. This whole "America is the greatest country and we love our military" has been a Republican thing for as long as I remember.

Now it's "our country is shit and it needs fixing, and our Military is pretty under-prepared". Nothing wrong with that way of thinking obviously. I just find it so crazy how both parties flipped that paradigm so quickly.

Just seeing a mother who's son died in Afghanistan, so it really just made me want to make the thread since it's so in your face. I honestly find the whole thing with both the parties fascinating.

Solitary confinement has recently been seen as a form of torture.
Would you call it a fate worse than death? That's why I asked.
Depends on how you serve the death. If it's quick and painless, yes. If it's something like being burned alive or suffocating for minutes, then no.

Honestly, it'd have been more of an insult to throw a women in a broken game like ACUnity than without.

I always see her mention Ubisoft. Not so much as a insult to her, but it just more or less proves Ubisoft is a pretty bad company. Be it for the reasons they gave about making women in games, or just... their games in general.

What's the point of keeping somebody like that alive? To satiate some carnal desire to see someone locked up? The comforting knowledge that they won't get "the easy way out"?
More so because later on a lot of them regret their actions and have to live with the burden of the crimes they've committed. In a sense, part of them has already died.

I don't think that's a very good comparison since the wrapper

A. Didn't do anything wrong
B. Is an inanimate object
Its existence behooves you to throw it away, in the same way that you'd dispose of any dreg.

People like James Holmes aren't inanimate objects, but my argument is that they should be treated as such. Not as punishment--but as a necessity. You throw away garbage.
Couldn't you just as easily say throwing him in a jail cell and throwing away the key is akin to throwing away garbage?

I would think the death penalty is all about punishment. The ultimate one.
i just went over thisssssssssssss

When you throw a wrapper in the trash can, you wouldn't say you're punishing the wrapper, would you?
I don't think that's a very good comparison since the wrapper

A. Didn't do anything wrong

B. Is an inanimate object with no moral or ethical codes attached to it

Anyway, I'm sure I'll run into some double standard or dogmatic logic from this video like I did that other one which I wrote an essay on (to which you had nothing to say to because you more or less agreed with me. Which is annoying because it seems you make these threads to try and prove some point otherwise).

It's just that trigger was originally used as something to describe an uncontrollable mental emotional breakdown or something like that. Like a Vietnam veteran getting triggered by seeing a plane flying over head, or hearing loud fireworks going off.

Not "this may possibly offend you".

I'm not here to argue the meaning of the word. Just saying how I feel about it whenever I see it, and why I probably will never use it.

I think rotting in a cell for the rest of your life is a far greater punishment than taking the easy way out
It's not about punishment.
I would think the death penalty is all about punishment. The ultimate one.

Quote
Making people rot in a cell is actually quite barbaric.
If you take it literally yeah. They still provide them food and a somewhat manageable lifestyle. They just don't have the privilege of freedom.

but it still annoys me because of how it first cropped up on the internet. All I can think of is tumblrites. I'll watch later I guess.

I'd argue America's death penalty needs to stop if they keep botching it like they do since European medical places say they refuse to supply the US anymore.

Then we had executions of people gasping for air for over 10 mins at a time. It should be quick and painless. But some states said they'd be open for bringing back firing squads, which just makes me think we're in the 1850's.

Anyone else find it bizarre how the Democrats are the ones banging their chest saying this country is great, and Republicans are saying otherwise?
Conservatism is the new counter-culture.
It's just amazing to me. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with how both parties feel. I just remember always hearing the Republicans going on about how amazing America is growing up. I just love how it's changed, as the parties have changed on things in times past.

That's like... the complete flip flop of what it's been for yeeeeeeeears. It was always the other way around. I find it fascinating how the two parties flip flop on a lot of key issues and personalities.
