I feel like they elaborated on Samus too much and felt she had to have some iron resolve to justify how bad ass she is. Just pull a Master Chef. He's a stronk dude who went through training and will always be stronk.

I had the same experience with Fireball. My dumb ass thought it'd be a good idea to take a shot directly from the bottle every time I got downed on Borderlands 2 with my friends.
Fireball is bad juju. It's too easy to drink.
Yeah the stuff that's easy to drink and tastes good is always the most dangerous. Creeps up on you.

Fireball sounds disgusting. There was some at the party but I don't think it was drunk by anyone
I can't look at it anymore without feeling nauseous. My body rejects it now. I haven't really gotten drunk since, actually. Not much a fan of drinking.

Ah yes, I do love it when a series you love gets destroyed. It sounds bad too since it's the OG guy that did it. Anyway, should I just finish this remake of M2 first? I'm enjoying it. And then Super M after? And then the remake of the original or Fusion I guess. Fusion sounds fun. And it sounds to me like they should more or less start a different plot completely if they're gonna advance the Metroid series.
Yeah, do it like that, that sounds good.
A reboot would be interesting. Not sure how I'd feel about that.
The original seems very... well, basic. Because of the time and all that. and idk of a Reboot, so much as just a new story. But then again, a reboot in the FPS style might be cool.

Sounds like what happened with Kojima after his assistant writer left after Peace Walker. The quality in writing from that to MGSV was staggering. Peace Walker is just as good, if not better than MGS3's story, and 5 was just... yeah. So many creative decisions that hurt that game.

Did Other M more or less kill the series? I haven't heard much from it every since.
Basically. The story itself has actually been "finished" since Fusion's release in 2002. Every game since then has either been a spin-off or something used to fill the gaps in the story, like the Prime trilogy. Anything else they could add to the story would just seem contrived--and that's exactly how Other M felt.
Other M was a bizarre anomaly, because it doesn't add anything to the story, yet it tries so hard to by giving Samus these brooding, whiny monologues about what it's like being the only woman in the Galactic Federation and bla bla bla. They made her out to be this petulant, emotionless child--and story-wise, this comes straight after Super Metroid.
Apart from ruining her character, the gameplay sucked ass, too, even though some people thought it was okay. Think of Fallout 3, except the story was destroyed not by some unfamiliar third party--but the man himself, Yoshio Sakamoto, who wrote all the previous Metroid games, too. He's basically regarded by Metroid fans as the George Lucas of video games. Once great, but not so much anymore.
There hasn't been a mainline Metroid game since, because there's really not much left you can do with the story at this point. All the gaps have been filled, any Other M was awkwardly squeezed in like a fat guy in an airplane seat. No one asked for Federation Force, but spin-offs are all you can really derive from the game's lore anymore.
All right, this is starting to make me sad--play Super Metroid please.

I feel I should try this. Is this the one where the other Samus suit is around and that scary music plays?
Nah, that's Fusion.
Is that the one you'd recommend? I feel I should pull a Verb and give the game a shot (that's where you play something you completely passed up/didn't care for and beat it).

Are you serious?
I should warn you I know literally nothing about Metroid minus Zero Suit Samus being dog shit. It was one of the few series I never paid attention to.

Honestly, I enjoyed it. I didn't finish all 5 eps, but it was different, so I enjoyed it.

It ended badly. I threw up all over the bathroom and somehow made it to my bed and passed out. Thankfully my dad wasn't pissed the next day. He was just relaxed and told me to clean it up.
I think it's because he understood lol. It's just, I expected the 24 year Marine Corps vet with a habit for cleaning, to get more annoyed.

Women are afraid of marriage because the whole point of the institution is to make them dependent and compliant.
is to make them dependent Uh... I think the classic sense of marriage was that the men were always the more dependent of the two. Thankfully in the 21st century, it's not at all the same anymore.

I wouldn't consider Firered/Leafgreen Gen 3, nor HG/SS as Gen 4. Just lump them in with Gen 1 and 2 to make it easier. I will say that the remake for FR/LG was fun, and hearing Blue's Champion theme remastered for the first time like that with the electric guitar and all was REALLY memorable. As was the ending song when Red runs off. This still sounds good to me and far more creative than anything Rube/Sapphire offered with their overuse of same sounding songs. Remake fixed that though, though some of the songs were hit and miss *ahem* Elite 4 *ahem* They nailed Steven's theme though with that rif. If it's not obvious, I love pokemon music as much as I love Zelda/Final Fantasy music

Does anyone else disregard opinions of people who rank Gen 1 or 4 highest?
No but it makes me question if it's nostalgia getting in their way. Only reason I like Gen 4 is because of Cynthia.

Spyro the Dragon. They got more mature with it apparently with a trilogy before they died back off to that kiddie crap.

Gen 3 > Gen 2 > Gen 5 > Gen 6 > Gen 1 > Gen 4
Yeah, not a fan of Diamond and Pearl for a lot of raisins, but I don't really "hate" any Pokemon game. Actually, the least enjoyable was Black/White 2 because almost nothing was new.
Conversely, I think Gen 3 wins for a number of reasons. The creativeness of the pokemanz, the world region was simply amazing for its time, and the mystery and steps you had to take to capture some pokemon was incredible.

Now that the dust is settled, you realize how painfully bland and barebones it is. I might rejoin once they actually add things. In the meantime, I'll play X/Y.
You're gonna get so far behind.
Well actually I lied. I stopped playing a long time ago. It appealed to me for a week and then meh.

Keep in mind summer polling really doesn't have much meaning. You should start worrying about the polls when the first debates have cycled through.

I agree with Verb here. Spreading our influence is the last thing the universe needs.
Kinda goes against humanity as a whole
I see you've caught on!
Idk if we're on the same page. I'm saying humans always leave their mark. Either to other people or animals, or the environment we live in. Be it negative or positive. We always have since Cavemen, and always will.

Everyone does. It still has a great soundtrack and story though (for a pokemanz game). It seems like after B/W though, they're actually throwing stories into these, which is good.

It's still fun to do while just taking a walk out to do things, I hope that they'd improve on things once their server problems are under control
I know, but I've not much need to play anymore. Now that the dust is settled, you realize how painfully bland and barebones it is. I might rejoin once they actually add things. In the meantime, I'll play X/Y.
