We were just talking about this here a few weeks ago too. I like it, but I'm wondering if private prison owners will have any kinda protest against this? Cuz ya know the whole business aspect of it and America has businesses having a say in a lot of stuff.

What counts as haughty?

Haughty healers in FF 14
Healers that do nothing but bitching but still die to things they shouldn't be dying to such as aoe's.

I have 2 friends who are heavily into it. Both Fantasy and 40k. Of course when they talk about it I kinda just go blank in the face, but yeah. I'm into the games and SOME of the lore.

I'm surprised there was no mention of Final Fantasy. I'm sure that at least one of you enjoyed the earlier versions, but drifted away because of the newer releases.
Final Fantasy still has quality about it though. It may not be what FF 6 or 7 was, but it's still good. FF 14 is probably the highest production MMO on the market you'd find right now. It's gorgeous. FF 15, while not exactly my cup of tea, isn't looking to be terrible.

40k sadly

It used to be that the 40k tag on steam would show some really good shit, now it's a steaming pile of million monkeys on typewriter tier stuff.

They give the license to literally anyone who wants to make a cash-in game whereas before they appeared to give a shit about quality control. THQ dying basically ruined everything.
What 40k game have they made since THQ died?
Space Hulk - meh
Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon - Squad Command was better
Warhammer 40,000: Space Wolf - idek
Warhammer 40,000: Carnage - idek
Warhammer 40,000: Storm of Vengeance - PvZ reskin
Warhammer 40,000: Regicide    - Chess
The Horus Heresy: Drop Assault - idek
Warhammer 40,000: Deathwatch Tyranids Invasion - idek
Legacy of Dorn: Herald of Oblivion - Some weird mobile game tier VN or something
Eisenhorn: Xenos - This one really hurts, it's one of the best novels in 40k being mangled into a meh tier blideo bame adaptation
Battlefleet Gothic: Armada - Apparently this one is alright
Space Hulk: Deathwing - Reskin
Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade - It could be good but I really doubt it will at this point
Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr - idek
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III - Moba boogaloo
Oh well... shit.

Gaming / Re: Fuck, how did Mass Effect 3's ending go so wrong?
« on: August 17, 2016, 08:07:40 PM »
I honestly still enjoyed ME3 because the journey of the entire game outweighed the ending for me. The ending left me more so confused than mad. And then the awesome Indoctrination Theory held me off until they released the DLC for it, which also made it kinda cool on which might be the "canon" ending due to things such as the Leviathan DLC factoring into how synthetics operated.

The map was really lacking. It's bigger, yet somehow feels smaller than the CW and MW. There's nothing particularly memorable about it and the overall aesthetic doesn't really fit Fallout. Some of the buildings look pretty weird. Bethesda seems to take the whole "retrofuturism" thing way too far.

One thing I will give the map credit for though is the amount of verticality that it allows you. You don't see that in 3 or NV.
Yeah the vertical thing was fantastic, but the buildings themselves just felt so.... ew. The entire city was ew.

I feel they honestly nailed the combination of it in Fallout 3. Enough to make it feel like they wanted its own thing, but still enough to feel like Fallout to me. NV obviously felt like the older ones.

But idk, 4 was just so boring. No amazing landmarks, and aside from the Glowing Sea, I didn't really feel interested.

It's a Metal Gear Game because it can be somewhat grounded in realism and have a geo-political and philosophical message to it. That and something heavily narrative.

yeah. the metal gear feel.

It seems to just be zombamboes with Ground Zeroes slapped on at the end.

cool but theres still lots to be seen

chances are youre right though

And yeah kinda. Kojima having his hands on his baby does kinda make it a MGS game.

tpp didnt really feel like an mgs game did it
You're right that there isn't a lot we've seen yet. It just seems... eh, idk. I'm not looking forward to it.

And TPP didn't on a lot of fronts, yeah, but the cassette tapes and cutscenes still had a MG feel to it for the most part. Just a shame no more codec for cassette.

Literal copy/paste of FO3.

It wouldn't have been so bad if fucking Todd didn't shill his game so hard. Making comments that basically translated/boiled down to "It WILL win GoTY" or "You'll just buy it anyways" and the funniest thing you could say about a Bethesda game "It just works".

I get the guy loves his own games but damn does he have a fucking ego. He had an interview a while back right after Skyrim where he commented on the state of the industry and all he did was bash every other genre of video games other than RPGs, and when he commented on RPGs he only really praised his games and ME.

AC

I never played fallout, whats so bad about fo4
It's not really a copy paste of Fallout 3. It just fails on a lot of fronts to what Fallout NV (and even 3) was. That, and it felt like all of their creative writing only went towards the Brotherhood of Steel and that's about it. Every other faction was meh.

Anyone else feel like Boston was such a shitty location? The atmosphere just didn't feel nearly as good as 3 and NV did.

Resident Evil almost if 7 flops
Revelations were both great. I hope that's what you mean by almost.
I did. That, and the RE2 remake they're doing. They know what their fans want. I just feel like RE7, while interesting and a better change for things, isn't Resident Evil at all.

It just seems like the same cat/mouse games the indie devs have been at for 5 years now on Steam, with Resident Evil slapped on for a title. If there are zombies I might change my tone, but it seems it's just "oh scary monster we gotta hide from" type deal.

Whatever interest I may have had in Fire Emblem in the past has been violently strangled to death by Awakening and Fates.
So play Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn. Amazing games.
