In pokemon X/Y since it's a brand new pokemon game with everything new, I made it an effort to "catch em all" again. I have to say it's been a bit fun since in recent installments I only capture what I wanted to use.

I'm seeing new pokemanz and thinking of new parties of pokemon I never use, so that's great. I'll actually be sitting at my PC and thinking of what I want to use. I've never done that. For example, Snorlax is in gen 1, but I never used him, so this brand new combo is honestly neat.

But harking back to what I said about Gen 1, I got Squirtle since I started off with Fennekin (Braixen looks the best if you ask me), but because I ALWAYS used Squirtle in Blue/Red/FF/LG, I just... am not really feeling it. But he's my only decent water, so yeah. I've been hoping Magikarp somehow magically pops up so I can use him.

This is just my own opinion but I think graphics do matter to me somewhat because if a game is butt ugly it's distracting.
If a game has bad lighting, textures, and character models, yes a lot of the times it is horribly distracting. This usually ties into games that are going for the more realistic look. Doesn't look pretty.

If you don't have the budget to make something look up to today's standards, you better either be an indie developer with not much, or think of a nice art style that can make it forgivable.

I can't speak for Jim but I personally can't stand isometric games.
Not liking a genre is fine. I think you should review and judge a game based on what it was trying to go for, and if it accomplished that. That and of course comparing it with other games in the said genre. At least a lot of the time.

For example No Mans Sky tried to go for randomly generated worlds that look different, but in the end it was all the same. So the main thing it tried to accomplish, failed miserably.

You might not like the 3D models for the new Pokémon games, but they're generally considered to be "better" than the old sprites--and they're only going to get even better and more detailed as time goes on. Generation VI, to me, would easily be my favorite generation if I wasn't a stubborn nostalgic baby.
To be honest I'd like it more if it wasn't for the pandering to Gen 1 all the time.

Oh select a new 3? Oh it's the original 3 starters

Two fossils? Oh gen 1 had that.

And all the gen 1 pokemon just thrown in for whatever reason. Didn't like it much. I felt it wasn't being bold enough to go out on its own. Not because I hate gen 1 pokemon, because I don't. It just felt like it was doing nothing but throwing it in whenever they could.

I'm still currently playing it, so this is more so fresh on my mind and my first impressions really. I'm still enjoying a lot of it, like the cool 3D when walking through some caves and stuff.

Gimmie gimmie chicken tendies
Be they crispy, or from Wendy's
Spend my hard earned good boy points
On kids meal ball pit burger joints
Mommy lifts me to the car
To find me tendies near and far
Enjoy my tasty tendie treats
In comfy big boy booster seats
McDonald's, Hardee's, Popeyes, Cane's
But of my tendies none remains
She tries to make me take a nappy
But sleeping doesn't make me happy
Tendies are the only food
That puts me in the napping mood
I'll scream, and shout, and make a fuss
I'll scratch, I'll bite, I'll even cuss
Tendies are my hearts desire
Fueled by rage and hungry fire
Mommy sobs, and wails, and cries
But tears aren't tendies, milks, or fries
My good boy points were fairly earned
To buy the tendies that I've yearned
But their's no tendies on my plate
Did mommy think that I just ate
TENDIES TENDIES GET THEM NOW
YOU FAT UNGRATEFUL, SLUGGISH SOW
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Ender linked me this, and my faith has been restored completely. I expected another dubby dub dubstep theme, but this is freaking perfect. It actually got me excited.

have you watched the tfs FF7 abridged series? I thought they brought a pretty good take on tifa to the table
Bit random, but yes. I loved how they handled her. Gentle in game, complete bitch in the tfs version.

I wasn't being facetious at all actually. Just seemed silly how you said it.

Anyway, I won't get into this because we have before and I don't feel like getting into that argument. I will say though that in some cases, your PC port thing has some validation to it (Batman Archam, No Mans Sky, etc). Though for the most part, they perform better on PC than consoles which are sadly outdated.

360 was console golden days

Doesn't the PC have games too though? I'm sure they have a bigger library than consoles do.

just throw away every single beautiful game i've ever played that can only be legally accessed through console, not PC
Do you mean exclusives or just games you already own?

Tbh, it might just be any nation around there is shit since Israel is also not exactly the best of places either.
Not to cherry pick your argument or anything but Israel is quite literally the safest place for LGBT minorities and women in the Middle East rn.
Yeah I'm aware. I wasn't really just focused solely on social issues. Perhaps I could have specified better. Government, social, citizens in general, etc, safety, etc.

I think the Israeli people (at least the younger generation) want peace with Palestine and are in agreement that they're not 100% innocent. But the hard liners in the goverment aren't exactly ones for negotiations, and their PM quite literally said a two state solution would never happen to win the vote. Then after he won went back and went "bro it's just a prank lol".

I was basically saying every country there is fucked in some way shape or form and I doubt it's getting better anytime soon.

]Yeah... my point is just because western society isn't perfect doesn't mean we have to accept bullshit Islamic practices.

And Russia is far from Western.
We don't have to accept all of their practices no, but I think the hijab thing isn't just oppressive. Others would say the same thing, just like others would say it is. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on that one.

Also Russia is European and has their history rooted in Western history. I'd say they are culturally. They're just more restrict on human rights.

I don't consider it really part of the ME. Islam doesn't automatically make a country a part of the ME either. Is Morocco in the ME too because it's an Islamic county?
I consider Turkey a ME nation because of its history, and where it is located. 95% of it is in the Middle East.

You keep proving yourself wrong with your own posts.

"Yeah theocracy and all that bullshit has been gone from western society for a long time but just because it's alive and well in Islamic countries doesn't mean we can judge then gosh"
No where did I say we can't judge them. Haven't I said before in our argument (much less in this forum in general) that much of the Middle Eastern nations are shit, as is their mindset on a lot of things (hi, Turkey/Kurds)? Pretty sure I said Islam also contributes to the issues they're facing in the Mid East. I'm just not so rash as to think it's the ONLY problem there. I'm not an Islamic apologist or anything. Tbh, it might just be any nation around there is shit since Israel is also not exactly the best of places either. But am I opening another can of worms by saying that?

Jordan isn't that bad, duder. And sorry, a lot of western nations have some shady human rights things going on too. It's not just with Islam. Hello Russia, US, etc.

And Turkey is indeed a ME country. What makes it not one? Pretty sure the Ottomans were as Islamic as you could get.

And Islamic theocracies are worse because theocratic governments in the west have been gone a long long time. But when they were around? Yeah, still pretty bad.

The Flood / Re: Who was a more formidable enemy? Germany or Japan?
« on: August 25, 2016, 04:40:59 PM »
Germany was more a threat on the offensive early on

Japan was willing to fight for every inch of earth they held, and were much much worse to PoW's (Germans treated Western allies mostly fine as PoW's. Not more so Russia and obviously minorities).

So I'd say Japan, really. They were more contained and not as much a threat once the US was island hoping, but they lost a lot of pepole.
