I want the Cubs to win simply because they haven't in over 100 years. They should get it.

It's like we're actually looking at politics now. I haven't felt this in a while.

I'm glad this actually feels like a damn debate so far. Not just obnoxious insults left and right.

I'm also ready for the online polls to pop up and people say Pence won, and Psu and Second Class argue about it for 4 pages.

conquest is going back to tickets where kills = contributing to the ticket. Though it's unclear how if 1 kill = 1 ticket, or a percentage. BUT you won't lose that ticket until you're in the respawn screen, so medic's are important again.

Support is also getting stuff to deal with tanks.

Wow, you're out of the loop.

But yeah, they're definitely listening. Assuming that the menus/ UI are functional, this will probably be a day one purchase for sure (especially considering the suckers that get the 10 day/ 3 day early versions are basically testing the final product). BF4 just hasn't felt the same since the beta.

Could just be the new UI making finding a match a frustrating experience, though
I've been dark the last two weeks minus the SP. I'm just glad PC got rid of that stupid web browser game search.

Quote
Paragraph 103 of Germany's penal code, on defamation of organs and representatives of foreign states, has the following to say:

(1) Whosoever insults a foreign head of state, or, with respect to his position, a member of a foreign government who is in Germany in his official capacity, or a head of a foreign diplomatic mission who is accredited in the federal territory shall be liable to imprisonment not exceeding three years or a fine, in case of a slanderous insult to imprisonment from three months to five years.

The article dates back to the penal code drafted when the German Empire was formed in 1871, although at that time it just applied to monarchs.

It has been little used in recent years and is colloquially known as the "Shah law" among German lawyers after the Shah of Persia successfully brought a case against a Cologne newspaper in 1964.

A Swiss man living in Bavaria was also prosecuted under the article in 2007, after he posted offensive comments about then Swiss President Micheline Calmy-Rey on the internet.
Jesus fucking Christ, Americans would have rioted if something like that happened here. I get libel laws and shit, but just tossing out an insult against a foreign head of state being punishable by law?
Yeah that's just fucking weird.

maybe it's because you guys don't watch jeopardy

he's pretty much calling out everyone who uses the most common and effective strategy in the game (most players) out of pure pettiness that they're not playing "his way"
I watch it

I mean, the guys been hosting it for decades, so I think he'd know how the hell it works best. That's not being a jerk at all. If anything, it's constructive criticism. He's clearly passionate about it.

How fucking old is trebek anyway? It's like he'll never die unless the show his soul feeds off of is killed.
76 years old

That's pretty lame on his part.

But all's fair in love and war, y'know?
I don't buy into that saying.
I don't really either, but there are circumstances where scummy things need to happen in order for two people to end up together. I'm not siding with Jive's friend, I'd never do something like what he's doing, but at the risk of sounding like an ass, there's always a possibility that it'd be for the best. Incredibly unlikely, but hypothetically possible.
I can get that. Fair enough.

What kinda shit is this? Especially considering it's a satirical joke over one of the worst dictators that's turned Turkey from one of the few, if only Secular middle eastern government, into another ME shit hole. Maybe I can more cuz American and "muh freedom" or something, but this is fucking stupid.

« on: October 04, 2016, 11:53:55 AM »
I have no preference, save that previously silent protagonists shouldn't speak in subsequent appearances. My one exception is Issac Clarke, who got 10x better after he started getting lines.

Too bad there will never be a Dead Space 3.
I dunno. I feel like voiced Isaac was one of the big changes in atmosphere that I didn't really care for with DS2
It was more than just the protag since the "new" feeling of the enemies was gone. Enemies lose the scare factor once you know how to deal with em. Same with the mysterious factor with the lore.

This is true. The renditions of Cartoon Link generally do.

Yawn, Clinton used the same method to get out of paying taxes.
Yes, she used it to get a 3,000 dollar tax return and avoid paying taxes on around 7% of her income while she paid almost 4 million dollars in taxes at an effective income rate of 43.9%. Clearly the same thing.

Yep it is the same. Obviously a smaller scale, but still the same.

How about all that charity she promised she paid out? 5%. LOL.
Trumpets really pull mental gymnastics to avoid admitting their candidate is shit

Yeah but if something is too realistic, people will bitch (and rightfully so). Same if its too arcade like. I'm pretty sure everyone knows running around in the open and shooting people, and shooting flamethrower tanks won't make them explode (thanks Hollywood).

But the atmosphere and sound effects are the main selling point, along with the characters (the single player).
I know it's silly shooting cars make them explode. But I actually thought shooting the fuel tank to a flamethrower would ignite it. Oh well lol. And ARMA is a niche game, obviously. It's made for those who enjoy the gameplay. They don't care about selling millions.
Yeah the flamethrower thing is a popular misconception due to Saving Private Ryan making it very popular that it blows up. In reality, it just leaks out.

Depends if it's voice or text. I wouldn't complain if Link spoke in Zelda because there's no voice acting anyway.
Well there is, just not any dialogue.

I'm a little sick of the silent protag thing. I think it's incredibly lazy almost every time to say "this is you". Unless you can create them from 100% scratch and then do to them your own kinda RP aspects, it's bad. So people like Gordon Freeman and Master Chef? No.

Looks nice but these games are a laughable representation of what a firefight is like.

Multiplayer is good arcade shooter type fun but the Campaigns while entertaining are just too unrealistic. I mean for that I'll just play Halo.
Well, it's meant to be fun, with a little bit of realism. It's not a simulator.
Otherwise you have Operation Flashpoint, and that game was awwwwwful.

So... He gamed the tax code... hasn't paid a dime to tax in 18 years... so.... He's the only one who can fix it??

What kind of shit tier writing is this?
Trumpets like to live in some alternate reality where they think that even a person incompetent and corrupt at his job, would somehow be a moral crusader and fix everything in the White House.

The SP intro one is amazing too. I reallllly need to get this on launch day. The narrative looks so damn strong, which astounds me considering DICE only really made a decent campaign with BC2.

Maybe they needed a historical war to throw a tragedy spin on it.

Gaming / Re: Battlefield 1

Wow. That's all I can say. I hope the narrative in this SP transcends just "good vs bad", because WW1 was so much more complicated than WW2, and if you ask me, much more tragic in a way.

I'm not. I'm a massive history nerd and never knew that, fuck you. I hate you.
seems a lot of people here are history nerds

never understood why

it's always been a "read up about it on google if you need to" kind of subject for me
At the risk of sounding edgy, or cliche, it's mainly because the worlds at the time, mixed with the events, are very interesting to me. That, and seeing world powers clash in ancient times when battles involved so much strategy and tactics on the battlefield, and it was so close and personal. Now a days battles are just about airstrikes and artillery mainly. It's not nearly as interesting.

It's a reason I enjoy Total War games so much. You can do the Hammer & Anvil tactics like Alexander the Great, and hit and run tactics like Genghis Khan. Even faint retreat and ambush the enemy like Sun Tsu. It's all fantastic to me.

TBH I always thought the Iranians just crawled out of a hole in the ground after the Sassanid Empire fell.
Yeah same here. It's actually wayyyyy cooler that Iran has always been around and continuously for centuries, been a massive power in some form or another. I'm kinda glad it didn't poof away like the Byzantines or Romans, simply because of the rich history it has. That's some China tier levels there. Or the Danes as well.

I was joking.

Agreed. Extended Ending was a good closure though. Especially the destroy ending, which I think is the canon one.
