Serious / Re: US elections: Russian request to monitor vote gets a 'nyet'
« on: October 24, 2016, 03:31:32 PM »
Makes sense though they'd ask people they know will say no, and then turn around and go "Look their elections are rigged!"
Maybe they know these people will say "no" because there's something fucky about the elections.

If you believe in the democratic process and free and open elections, you have no business getting upset when someone asks to observe.
It's Russia. You know damn well they were going to get denied and only push their rhetoric more. They're doing the EXACT same thing with Finland, along with questioning their independence in the first place. Stop taking Russia's word at face value.

US doesn't like other nations meddling in their elections (and rightly so. No country should dictate another's elections).
Then what right have you to get so fucking butthurt about Russia's elections?
You can be upset they're rigged (evidence of literal box stuffing), but don't actually try to meddle in it on a governmental level. I'm but a citizen.

Apparently not the first time Texas had to tell people no. US doesn't like other nations meddling in their elections (and rightly so. No country should dictate another's elections).

Quote
Three states have said "nyet" to a Russian request to send its diplomats to monitor polling stations on Election Day, according to letters from state officials provided to CNN.

Oklahoma, Texas and Louisiana turned down the request from the Russian consulate in Houston. Louisiana Secretary of State Tom Schedler wrote that recent flooding had left his office extremely short-staffed trying to deal with the damage and prepare adequately for the vote on November 8. "Had this flood event not occurred, we certainly would have been open to such a visit," he told Consul General Alexander Zakharov.
Both Oklahoma and Texas denied the Russian proposal citing state laws that prohibit it.

You'd think they'd ask the blue states and not deep red ones. Russia is really playing a strange game and they really need to fuck off. Them of ALL nations can't lecture people on fair elections, regardless of how they want to disguise their motives. Makes sense though they'd ask people they know will say no, and then turn around and go "Look their elections are rigged!"

That's because Nato/EU is provoking Russia. Trump wants to ease tensions with Russia. He basically wants to avoid WWIII. Obama and Hillary are pushing for war with Russia.
Yeah, Ukraine wanting to be apart of NATO after the history of corruption, and thus Russia annexed Crimea was all because of the EU/Nato. All these cyber attacks too, along with the pushing around of Finland.

Obama/Hillary won't start WW3, and whoever says that is retarded. Standing up to a nation who's increasingly militaristic =/= invading their homeland. Russia does what it does because it has yet to face any firm opposition, because the West has grown weak.

Edit: I can concede that the NATO push has probably been too much, as well as the West not welcoming in Russia with them after the fall of the USSR, but I still think if a country willingly WANTS to join, it shouldn't be threatened otherwise. If it is being pressured though by NATO people, then yes, that's an issue.

I'd say another pro for Hillary is not being as weak on foreign policy as Obama is

I didn't want to get into specific policy ideas, just broad strokes about their character.
Ah I see. Fair enough.

Pro tip I learned. Taking the bayonet off of your gun decreases the recoil when you rapid fire, and makes you ADS quicker. So if you're playing assault, I'd suggest taking it off for that accuracy.

Mainstream media is panicking because Trump said he will take it to the court if he loses by election fraud.
Do they forget how the law works? There was a legit investigation on the Gore case. Nothing will come of it if he takes it to court if he loses by a shit ton. If it's close and they do a recount and see shady signs, he has a case.

This isn't about the election though, it's about holding public officials accountable to the law instead of blithely ignoring blatant corruption and criminality.
It SHOULD be about what you said, but sadly it's all about the election. Why? Because the Supreme Court hangs in the balance, which more or less identifies the direction we want the country to go.

You guys continue to carry a torch for an argument that's been settled in court.

No it hasn't. That's the entire point. The mental gymnastics used to excuse her actions simply because she's in a specific party is astounding.
The same can be said for Trump followers and what he does. I think for a lot of Clinton supporters, they're simply voting for her because they don't like the other option. Same with Trump supporters and him.

It's not about who they like more. It's who they hate the least. Both have historically low favorability ratings.

Both praised and games I enjoy a lot.

And yeah fair enough on the re-releases
Also, keep in mind the ratio of good games to major disappointments, as well. Homefront, Mirror's Edge, Quantum Break, The Division, Star Fox Zero, Deus Ex, Street Fighter V (launch), and (of course) No Man's Sky.

Every year has its good games, but 2016 appears to have had the highest concentration of disappointing or straight-up bad games in a long time. It may just pile up, too, depending on how well games like Pokémon, Persona 5, and the Last Guadian fare, among others.
Anyone who expected Homefront to be good was rather silly, but yeah. I dunno. I never looked forward to any of those games in the first place.

2016 has... uh, Dark Souls 3?... In general, it was a year of mass disappointment, delays, and stagnation.
Battlefield 1, Civilization 6, Skyrim Remaster (free), Total War: Warhammer, Overwatch, Hyper Light Driver, Dragons Dogma for PC.

It's been a good year if you ask me.
Were all those games universally praised, or do you just like them?

I also wouldn't count remasters or rereleases--just new shit.

Anyone have an opinion in my stance on Clinton's warmongering? Especially with Russia?
Not sure what your stance is exactly.
Basically, when she's president, I don't mind her hawkish stance, especially in regards to Russia. After Obama's 8 years of weak foreign policy, I think we need to stand up to Russia. Too much do we let them test the waters, and hack our computers time and time again. I'm not even talking about this controversial recent one. They've just done it a LOT lately.
Yeah I agree within reason. I don't really like the no-fly zone in Syria idea.
Neither do I, because it's too late to try it now. But I hope she does stand up to Russia, even to a Reagan extent. NONE of the world leaders have done that at all, because they've all grown so used to the peace of not having a nation threaten sovereign territory, so when they're faced with it, they're hesitant and afraid. The EU needs to bind together along with the US and denounce what they've done, and not let them continue. They've fucked over Georgia, annexed Crimea, and are making pushes at Finland. Enough is enough.

Not even China is like that, as they're more interested in being a super power via economics. Russia just wants to be what the USSR used to be in regards to power and the world stage.

Finally. Something that matters. She's too hawkish. I expect a former SecState to be a little less bomb them and then talk
Well we tried to talk to Russia. Look what happened.

and trump will start another holocaust if he's elected
Remind me which candidate has consistently promoted a policy of belligerence toward a state with nuclear capability comparable to if not momentarily surpassing our own?
You know I was thinking about this while in the Shower today, because your mind always wanders there. Hillary is obviously more war hawkish than Trump and especially Obama. But see the thing is, Obama is so incredibly weak in foreign policy, that it irritates me when thinking about it. His horrible 'red line' deal that was dictated by Iran makes us look out to be easily manipulated, and then Russia is just shitting all over us 24/7 now, seeing how far they can go. That's so dangerous if you ask me.

Russia is an emerging big power again after being off the stage for a while, and they're poking the bear to see how far they can take it. I don't think we should continue to be so damn meek in response. Remember when everyone knew Russia hacked us and the White House didn't admit it? It's horrible. I think Hillary would actually be stronger than Obama on that, and that's something I think is more positive. We're being tested right now as a world power, and currently, we're just complacent and letting shit happen.

Edit: I should add that it's not just Obama I'm sick of with handling Russia, it's the entire Western World. All the EU does is finger wag, and the UN just naturally throws its sanctions which do nothing.

I like how Dark Souls 2 had more original content in it in terms of armor than DS3, yet no one will hate on DS3 with that because it's Big M's game. A huge issue with me in DS3 was just how much crap from DS1/2 was in it. I like the occasional appearance, but not when it dictates so much of your items.

So this is the coolest thing. During Operations, if you're squad leader and hold Q, go to social, and pick GO GO GO, you can blow the whistle. So if you take the points and you move on and everyone is screaming as they charge and it blows, it feels WW1 as fuck and it's cool.
