Reagan would be rolling in his grave seeing his party full of Russian apologists

"b-b-b-but Russia dindu nuffin!"

"T-t-they're strong...."

Yeah, hello, bit of self reflection assholes. Russia projects way harder than the actual influence they have. Their economy is also in shambles due to our sanctions. Meanwhile we're still the dominant global superpower who can sway any political matter in some form or another, and our media and market dominants the globe. Maybe not as powerful and influential as it once was, but to deny that is hilariously wrong.

Maybe the US can actually flex its muscles once in a while, rather than getting complacent like every Trump supporter seems to want, thinking the first thing that would happen is nuclear war. Just for reference, Turkey shot down one of their places and Russia got butt hurt for a few weeks, and then got over it.

Arguing what the best Star Wars is and why, is like arguing what your favorite music is and why. You always run into the same shit with the same people saying the same things and in the end it just leaves me rolling my eyes simply because people are treating the most subjective things as objective.

If we're going by statistics, it means those are the two most well done films. Or at least hit the themes most fans enjoy.

5 and 3

I like 3 simply because how dark it is. Same with 5 I guess in getting a bit non cheery. Star Wars has a dark history, so going into that is always cool.

Anyway, I must sleep. Will reply tomorrow.

How does this ruin the Force?
There are some things in every grand universe that are best not explained in great detail, or else the entire fascination of it is ruined. Good examples?

Forerunners in Halo. It was great when there was some subtle hints that humans were forerunners, or somehow very closely related (them being the only ones able to operate such ancient abandoned technologies). Now? Nah they're just an entire thing themselves and somehow went to war with humans before, and then they got reset.

Reapers in Mass Effect. Seeing Sovereign for the first time and him going on about how they are eternal, and his booming and dangerous voice, just made you feel all sorts of things from this ancient entity. We as humans are dictated by time, so we always think things have to have a beginning and end. Same with the Reapers. But they claimed they were eternal, and they were always a threat coming to get you. So what happens? We learn some Reaper looking races made some AI who made Reapers in their image and is controlling it, thus ruining that entire mystery, and honestly, taking away any sort of sentient threat that guys like Sovereign and Harbinger were, since you know they were controlled by some random AI.

These are just two examples off the top of my head, but it reinforces the point that not everything needs to be explained in great detail (Obi-Wan in ep 4 summed it up perfectly. "Magic bullshit" basically), and that there is sometimes more power in mystery and subtlety, than diagnosing everything to its core.

i've said it before and i'll say it again

if your order is 546321 or 546312, why even take all that time to type it out

just say "i have the most generic possible normie opinion," and we'll know exactly what you mean

meanwhile, dapper's is the most unique i've seen ever
verb, make sure your horse isn't too high, babe.
i just think it's funny how i can pre-empt people's opinions before they even give them out

i bet you're a 546312er
I actually liked 4 the best for a long time until I re-watched them before episode 7. Same with 3 1 2

However after going through them all, I do have it 546,  but 2 switched with 1. Why? Because for me, 1 was a whole lot of freaking nothing between the big set pieces. I have no problem with the acting, and heck I can even let the medichlorian thing slide if I'm feeling generous because idgaf about Star Wars lore to an insane degree. But geez, just the loooooooooooong periods of nothing make the movie so boring to me, and I can only stand so much Jar Jar before I get annoyed with the semi-racist accent. So it's 321 now. Aside from the corny love story, I did enjoy seeing Anakin have his little lashes of wanting more power

and Vader's theme subtly playing in the background when he broke down to Padme about him slaughtering all the kids and what not. Probably the nicest touch on that entire movie to me.

3 2 1 until I blow a hole in my head if you make me watch ep 1 again

Yes, because I am of course going to phrase it in a way that is insulting to myself. You guys listed them out, I did too.
2>7>6>5>3>4>1

this is how i order pokémon generations--i grew up with the second generation, and i shamelessly claim that it's the best generation knowing full-well that it may be just because of nostalgia

we call these people "johtoddlers," and i do call myself a johtoddler despite it being an insult

being aware of your biases is a good thing
I grew up with gen 1. I'm not retarded enough to think it's the best generation. Get on my level you filthy nostalgia fag.

I think Gen 3 has done the best work.

Anyway, bed time. Finally meeting up with IRL friends again after a long time.

Yeah, I need to process it, but having JUST got back from it, I can say I safely feel the majority of the movie was slow as shit, but the ending was a big pay off.

Spoiler

And yeah, question, am I the only one that thought the majority of the movie was dark as HECK? Like, 80% of it was so damn dark.
The part with the crying child in the city firefight felt really dark. I guess they included that to illustrate how Saw's tactics put civilians in danger
Honestly, that part distracted me because of how the child was just standing there stupidly looking up and crying. If she looked around more frantically while crying, and maybe holding an arm close to herself, I'd have felt much more sympathetic. But all I thought was "that was just bad direction to give the child acting it out". It just came off as silly to me.

I guess I just really didn't like the Dr. Evazan (fucked up face guy) and Ponda Baba (walrus man) cameo.
Tbh, I didn't even realize they were in the movie.

Fanservice is there just like TFA, but TFA's was implemented more seamlessly. It's jarring here.
Sorry, but not really if you ask me. TFA threw stuff in your face so obnoxiously it was like some old guy holding a picture up and going

"REMEMBER THIS?????"

The only time I felt that with Rogue One was the stupid blue milk in the beginning. But it wasn't as in your face as the chess board thing from TFA, or whatever else they managed to throw in your face that my mind blocked off.

cgi princess leia and tarkin made me feel uncomfortable

in the future famous actors likenesses will be recycled onto to the big screen after they die, nothing is sacred

"Featuring the computer generated mannequin of Jeff Goldblum as Some Edgy Guy!!!"
Yeah it was... weird at first. But I got used to it.

I felt the movie could have ended a bit sooner and then it cut off so suddenly. At the end I was thinking

"okay ending it here?"

"here?"

"here???"

I don't mind how it ended, I just did not expect it to literally roll right into ep 4

Just got done watching it. Overall the movie was average to be honest, but that ending was fucking amazing. It was the only time I really felt suspension, and the desperation of the entire thing.

Seeing them actually digitally put the episode 4 faces on some characters was done pretty great as well. I was expecting some bad 'How I met your mother' quality of it.

http://www.cnn.com/2016/12/15/politics/obama-russia-hacking-election/index.html

Seems a bit too little too late seeing as he's about to get kicked out in a month and odds are Trump will walk back anything he does. But I guess this is is political causes beli or something.

Why do people want to avoid confilict with Russia? I don't get it.

is it really that difficult for you to grasp why some would want to avoid war with one of the US' major power rivals

i dont think it is
Is it that difficult for you to grasp that it won't come to using nukes?

We shouldn't be so afraid to tell Russia what for.

i made no mention of nukes so i dont know why youd bring that up.
So what's the big deal?

because we'd be going to war with another superpower.

i dont know why youre being so obtuse.
Russia is nowhere near a superpower, despite how much they try to project they are.

And to answer your point directly, so what SHOULD we do? Continue sanctions? As much as I'd love to, and as much as Europe is slowly finally coming on board to actually buffing up their military (thanks, Poland), Trump seems all too eager to get rid of those sanctions.

let me reiterate, then

"because we'd be going to war.

i don't know why you're being so obtuse."

we shouldnt be eager to send troops to fight anywhere. that should be a last resort.
That doesn't really answer my question though. What would you rather we do?

I'm not surprised Republicans in NC are doing this. NC Republicans are some of the shittiest people acting in the law in the country atm.

I imagine all their efforts to limit his power would be met by the higher courts and struck down. At least I hope so. That's an incredibly slippery slope.

2457

Cuz dey scurd. People are too complacent with the status quo post WW2 and are too afraid to stand up to any big player nation that oversteps their boundaries. Especially Europe and their habit of not spending the required Nato money for military.
