It's only there for the male gaze--period.

If it were there for the female gaze only, that would still be abhorrent. The point is, it tends to be the males in the audience who game developers cater to the most; hence, "it's only there for the male gaze." But that doesn't automatically mean it can't be enjoyed by degenerates of all sexes, ages, colors, and creeds. MLP is made for girls, but grown men happen to like it more.

Not that any of this matters, because even if a game had some sexual content that was specifically designed for everyone, I would still have a problem with that.

In other words,

I'm just saying. If it had to be one game, it would be either Catherine or No More Heroes.
Catherine is anime tier because Atlus, but it's not Otaku at all. Here, I'll fetch you what I just posted.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/511740/

Otaku is like the lowest of the low. To call anything with the Japanese anime touch on it as Otaku, is about as inaccurate as calling anything with a gun in it, a Call of Duty clone.

Otaku: The Game
I think there are stronger examples out there.
I can easily think of one, and it involves an on rails shooter where you make girls have an orgasm.

Globally it's probably going to get worse with the way the politics and world are going. The Pax Americana is more or less coming to an end it seems, and Western society is in turmoil via immigration, along with Russia poking at them as well to try and reclaim their former glory. China meanwhile is going for the Economic victory, and America is an unknown under the Trump administration.

PERSONALLY however, things can look more bright for each of us. The world is in our hands, and we're all one year (hopefully) wiser. Learn from your mistakes in 2016, and improve on them, and try to find your happiness.

How does the gameplay or story differ from other Japanese hack and slash games like DMC? The combat looks identical.
It's the same guys that did Metal Gear Rising/Bayonetta, so just silky smooth gameplay and lots of action. We know literally nothing about the story other than the universe in which it's set by the other Nier/Drakenguard games.

Doesn't really sound like my thing, but I'll keep an eye on it.
If you didn't like MGR or Bayonetta from a gameplay perspective, odds are you wouldn't like this.

Didn't play either. I did play the DMC series (reboot excluded), but I'm not a huge fan of the genre.
I wasn't a fan of DMC either but loved MGR. I'd say watch some gameplay of that and make your decision.

It's easy for non-Japanese-speaking people to say that Japanese VAing is better, but the fact is, if you can't understand what they're saying, you have no way to judge whether they delivered the lines properly. You can only say what you thought sounded good to your ears--and for me, there's never been a time in any foreign animated movie, show, or game where the English dub hasn't been miles better.
I agree with the not knowing what they're saying thing, but I could easily find you some horrible dub as compared to a sub where they sound like they actually deliver.

Just look up any anime in the 90's really that wasn't Cowboy Bebop.
DBZ? Shit show, good dub.
No. DBZ has campy voice acting that fits the corny scene it's throwing at you, like Dynasty Warriors. Just random things here and there I could dig up.

For the record, I only said FF 12 was MMO tier because the combat was borrowed heavily from FF 11, which WAS the MMO.

Yeah it'll survive. Public opinion over there still heavily favors the monarchy. Charles will come in and shit will continue. The guy survived an assassination attempt so he's not despised.

I can't think of many off the top of my head, so I could be wrong. Name me a few.

Unless you're on exclusively about character designs.
I mean, yeah, that's kind of the biggest and most important factor. You're dealing with these characters for the whole game, after all. The characters' designs, as well as their personalities, mannerisms, ways of interacting with each other, dialogue, and how the female characters are treated by the developers, are all insufferably anime.
I disagree with the way they interact. The only one I'd say is anime tier is Rikku. And FF character designs have always been EH. I mean, I'd rather have that colorful cast than the Backstreet boys of FF 15, which is one of my main gripes about that game. They all look like they're from a Japanese boyband.
Yeah, the thing about FF is that it's only gotten progressively worse with that shit. Same with Fire Emblem, same with Shining Force. I definitely have a higher tolerance for it than Flee does, though--Flee had to stop playing Sun/Moon because of the incredibly mild anime influence that the game has, so knowing his tolerance level, that's why I'm like, "Yeahhh, FFX might be a bit much for him."
Fair enough. It's why I'd recommend 6 or 7 more so.

Fire Emblem has sort of gotten worse, but it's always been hugely influenced by the anime art style and brand of things. Even the older ones were like, straight up animeish. Only difference now is the bond tree where you can marry and have kids, which honestly, I didn't like at first, but it's funny that a lot of the kids have more depth than the parents.

It's the reason they dragged like 4 of them from Awakening (the last game) to the newest game.

VII is nowhere near the best in the series. It's great but not awesome or fantastic.

And XII doesn't have a single main character.

We'll have to disagree here. 6 or 7, or even 10 is the best in the series, even if 7 is vastly overrated.

The main character for 12 is terrible. Gideon Emery is one of the few saving graces for that MMO that didn't quite make it.
The main guy you play as is Vaan. It may focus heavily on other characters, but he's the main protagonist. Just like Tidus is the main dude in X, but he's not the leader or anything.

And I think 7 is fantastic. It's overrated for sure, but I think the story, and characters are fantastic. That being said, I think 6 gives it a run for its money too. I only just recently beat it last year and I'm surprised how much depth those characters have for a game on the Super Nintendo.

Don't get me wrong, I think I like FF 12. I mean, I'm gonna give it another chance with the PS4/PC (hopefully) remaster, because the audio in 12 is horribly compressed. But yeah, the MMO tier combat mechanics that took heavy influence from FF 11 leave me wanting more.

X is super eastern/anime-like. Just a forewarning.

Only reason I'd even try it is because I have FF XV sitting right next to me, so I'm not gonna get one of the others as well. My girlfriend has FF X remastered on the PC though, so I suppose I could play that one as well.
Trust me, I know. I've seen her play it. Definitely not my thing. Looks like FF is a series I might never touch.
It's honestly not that bad, man. I can think of a handful of other RPG's that are waaaaaaaaay more eastern. Not much anime stuff is in the game that I can remember off the top of my head.

If he's on about character designs, of course you're not going to run into medieval knights in these settings, but it's not totally insane with the belts and crazy stuff. Heck even with 7 I can think of main characters that aren't over the top. It started getting crazy with FF 8.

i understand the sadness that came from carrie's death

by why should we care about her mother's death
Probably because a parent losing their child is never easy, and the fact she died only one day after, and you have to image the greif she was going through.

Plus she was a prominent actor of her own at one time.

Have you ever seen the way minorities are treated in East Asian cultures? Have you heard the way black people talk about pretty much every other ethnic group including blacks of a different shade?
It's like we're completely ignoring the 250 years of suffering they had in our country. Same with other minorities like the Irish, Chinese, etc. As if them talking down a bit about whites suddenly invalidates everything else that goes the other way.

It's like white people have the shortest memories and they have never done any wrong.
Isn't slavery still a thriving business in Africa?
Slavery will always have an underground market. Always.

But like Charlie said, it's not state sponsored, and an entire section fighting for it. That, and I was referring to Jim Crow as well.
