This is going to sound crazy, but

I think it could be better without him.

If you take the KojiPro team, and get a creative lead that respects and understands the lore, you could make the game we've been waiting for.

The foundation was set with TPP. All they need to do is deliver on the gameplay side of things again, but increase the story quality.
The guy that did Portable Ops did a good job imo

What he said

And no no, I gave Peace Walker another chance on Ps3 and loved it. I couldn't finish it in time for 5, so I watched the movie.

That being said, I thought the story was great. I told another friend I thought it was as good as 3's.

As for age, yeah. The story of MGS is just stale now. We've covered everything except Raiden in between MGS 2 and 4.

And Kojima is sick of the series. He's wanted to end it since 2001.

And we all know it won't be food WITHOUT Kojima, so yeah.

Only metal gear game id get now is a remake of Metal Gear, or Revengeance 2. The second being far more likely.

And like many things in story telling, it was better when the Patriots were left this ambiguous entity.

I hated that 4 just said "oh these cool and loveable people from 3? Yeah they're actually really evil and twisted."

I think Kojima did bad writing on that, but was forced to throw them in 4 so it showed fans 3 wasn't an unnecessary oneshot, even though that was the intention.

I was always a "Journey is better than destination" kinda grill (still am), but it rubbed me the wrong way.

Both the journey and the destination suck, though.

Kaz? No, he didn't. Kaz only took it that way.

So yeah, in the end Big Boss was still honestly a bad guy, and his whole nations without borders is stupid too because they can do whatever they want with little to no repercussions.

1. They can't do what they want with little to no repercussions. No more than any other nation.

2. Big Boss has been a bad guy since the end of Peace Walker, where he went completely against The Boss's will.

Spoiler
You people have a bad habit of making shit out to be better than it actually is.

The ending wasn't handled with anything but clumsiness. The story wasn't about revenge, turning into demons, or a fall from grace like the trailers advertised.

Big Boss had little to no emotion regarding revenge.
I meant journey as in gameplay and all that. I'll still have to see the final cutscenes for it all, but yeah.

I think it only shows the series was just getting... old.

He's been at it for over 20 years. I like to think of Old Snake as Kojima and Big Boss as the fans.

"Let it go. It's time to put aside the game."

Seriously, great series, but it's reached the point where the games stories just aren't anything amazing anymore.

3 was the last great one. Peace Walker was pretty good in its ending bit with nukes.

But its time we let the Snakes finally rest. Honestly, I think Revengeance did so well in story BECAUSE it was free from the strict story of anything before MGS4.

You know, my first impressions about the ending pissed me off.

I was always a "Journey is better than destination" kinda grill (still am), but it rubbed me the wrong way.

However

Since I've had 24 hours to really process it, I think I'm okay with it .

And honestly, it doesn't make Big Boss out to be a good guy like I first thought. Like said before, he's still a manipulative bastard who BETRAYED HIS CLOSEST AND BEST FRIEND.

Someone who would go with him to hell and back. Someone he loved really. So yeah, in the end Big Boss was still honestly a bad guy, and his whole nations without borders is stupid too because they can do whatever they want with little to no repercussions. That's bad.

The recon is kinda cool I guess for MGS 1 (And honestly, the fact he's able to keep Metal Gear 1 still canon for almost the majority of it is saying something from how long ago it was) and fitting I guess.

I honestly feel sorry for Venom Snake. He was a soldier who gave his undovoted service to, and threw himself in front of Boss to protect him. He was willing to sacrafice his life for his leader. He put the mission first like The Boss would say.

What does he get? A big fuck you from him. So honestly, I think Big Boss got what he deserved. He deserved to die, and then finally see the light at the end in MGS4. Great anti-hero really.

Oh, and Liquid is still a little bitch. What a shit character.

"I'll surpass you!" he says as a kid

Then just bitches his whole life and blames Solid.

That's honestly what I'm thinking. There's no way Kojima'd pull that.
You forget, MGS2 was a thing. The build up to it resembles 5 a lot. Only not so in your face about it.

I recognize everyone on your list but him. Who did he voice?
Iskander in Fate/Zero, new Mortal Kombat announcer, Garen from League of Legends, the general in the hand drawn anime Red Line (which is awesome).

Loads more.
