Meryl was cute in Twin Snakes. Or as cute as pixels could get you back then. Then again, tomboys are just a weakness of mine.  And that's the only MGS 4 model (if that's even from 4. I doubt it) of her that I like. Not a fan of her looks in 4.

There CAN be disappointment and you shouldn't let your hype get the better of you.
Now before anyone says anything, I want to say I still love this game. The gameplay is amazing, graphics are amazing, customization is great. But yeah, still. Cut content hurts. Fuck Konami as usual, etc etc.
That being said, I didn't even try FOB assaults yet. And MGO will be a thing as well. So that's basically an entirely new game, and with this gameplay? I can only hope for greatness.

Yes. The series was much better when it was you up against genuinely supernatural threats.
At least psychics and ghosts (and apparently demons) are still real in the series. I assume that's only because Kojima couldn't think of a way to incorporate nanomachines into whatever explanation he dreamed up, though.
The way they handled Mantis pissed me off too. The guy that had a big revelation at the end and used his power for good right before he died? Nah lol fuck you. He's evil again and controls everyone.

No, not at all. Peace Walker is the second best game in the series, IMO. Even if only from a story perspective.
I honestly have no good explanation to what happened in TPP. Like... there were so many missed opportunities.
Spoiler Eli: Wasted character. The game ruins the intirgue from the get-go. There's a mission where you have to capture the "White Mamba", leader of the child soldiers. You're left thinking "shit... Eli?" Then the game's like "lol he's white in case you didn't notice." After you finally meet up with him, you don't really have any interaction with him save a few awkward silent stares.
A few missions later, Kaz contacts you "Boss... I think Eli is your son."
Whaatt... why reveal it like that? Wasted opportuninity.
Also, BB/Eli had no interaction. I was hoping to see why Eli hated Big Boss so much in MGS1 "He always told me I was the inferior clone." No... he didn't.
Other gripes: We didn't see the rescue of Naomi, or the saving of Sniper Wolf. Saladin never became Saladin. Gray Fox wasn't even IN the game, even though the timeframe was perfect.
Sorry yeah. Peace Walkers story was pretty great yeah. I just feel that V's story is... meh. Kojima had too much on his plate canon wise to just throw all in one game, and those he did felt so... bad. I like to think that it's because his Konami fiasco caused him to ruin some things. But at the same time, he was without his co-writer as well.

That's exactly why I hate him, though. He has a laundry list of atrocities in TPP alone, and we're supposed to agree with his worst. And he basically gets away with all of it for vague and shitty reasons.
And this is a complete 180 from his characterization in Peace Walker. What a complete waste of a character.
I haven't seen it all yet, so I can't really pass my judgement. I just got home, so I'll binge on it for a while and let you know.
