I think people letting it decide if it's a buy or no buy is silly (I have a friend who freaked over Dark Souls 3 being 30 frames and not 60), but I think it is just a nice thing added on.

It's like having your cake and eating it too. Plus it fits some games better than others for sure, especially games with quick reaction.

Finally, and I may be wrong on this, I remember reading that the later games have an option to disable a lot of the turn-based micromanaging stuff. Not sure if this is actually a thing now as I haven't played them myself, but this would allow you to play through the campaign with most of the managing and politics being let to the AI to handle while you just focus on the actual warfare and troop creation / movements.
No, this is not true at all. You still need to manage diplomacy, family tree, cities, and other things.

Whoever wants to play me in Rome 2/Attila, lemme know.

Medieval 2 is basically unplayable online.

daily reminder that OoT is considered one of the GOATs and runs at 20fps
That was way back in 1998, which was over 15 years ago. Did it age gracefully? I like to think so, yes, seeing as I can still enjoy playing it.

Should you hold it as a standard for advocating frames? I don't think so. In all forms of media, as technology advances, so should the consumers expectations.

After Kingdom Hearts 2, I gave up following the story seeing as they made like 40 hand held games I couldn't care less about.

Dust for New Vegas is God tier

Better than any DLC Obsidian or Bethesda has made. It's added 300+ hours to my playthrough so far
I saw that mod, but it seems very one dimensional and just hard for the sake of being hard.

I hear there is a story though.
The story is magnificent when you take the time to traverse the wastes and find all the notes. That's the thing though I guess, people that don't like to work for their story will hate it. As far as difficulty that's once again player preference as well. I personally like to make the game as challenging as I possibly can.
Fair enough.

I like Dark Souls, so I like to piece some story together.

With how much military power we have, I think it is somewhat of a responsibility. Our military is basically a deterrent anyway, and our allies with regions prevents further wars from breaking out.

It seems also that the longer we go on in this long peaceful age, the more complacent the next generation gets. We forget what it took to actually get here and how much fighting there actually WAS, and how we really needed to be involved.

Backing out of the world stage would make the world more unstable, whether we want to accept it or not. Now I'm not saying invade *insert middle eastern county here* or anything like that. Just the fact our influence is vast.

daily reminder that frame rate is just a meaningless number

buying a game based on its frame rate alone is akin to buying a book based on its words-per-page
(which would be asinine)
You can argue what you want about 30 vs 60 fps, but to say it doesn't matter is a little too black and white.

Keep in mind that you should always advocate STABLE frame rate, but it 30 or 60. If a 60fps game normally dips below 60 and jumps all around, then it won't look good. Same with games that drop below 30, because then it looks terrible.

Resident Evil Revelations had this problem because of poor optimization.

no political experience
See, other criticisms of Trump are legitimate, this is not.

The political class in this country, in fact worldwide, is corrupt and bloated. The fact that someone has had a real career, rather then spending their whole lives pursuing greater power, isn't a bad fucking thing.
Keep in mind that there is a real difference between spouting what's wrong with this country, and actually presenting plans to fix it.

So far I have yet to hear a single REAL and accurate thing the man has said on what he plans to do. That "build a wall" thing isn't what I count as real talk.

I would possibly be for supporting him if he actually talked about what plans he had. It's much easier to condemn than it is to lead.

I feel like from his pov, he's doing the humane thing and urging national leaders to help the immigrants, and make sure no people are left out. The Pope is a good dude who is removed from all that political shit and upholds his religious beliefs, but also actually cares about the common man. His countless time spent with homeless and children proves this, along with him ordering churches around the world to take in immigrants.

Naturally though, the people in congress will turn it all into politics and all the other crap we hate.

So I think HIS intentions are noble and good, but I think congress will circle jerk over his words and use it for political leverage.

I don't know why people are against it. Let him. People want to be around the leader of their religion, so let em be happy.

Plus the dude is just an amazing person anyway. Idk how people can hate him unless you declared Jihad on him.

Native Americans are upset because he's canonizing a Mexican missionary who committed cultural and physical genocide against them or something.
So I've heard. Native Americans should be pissed at a lot of things, mainly the US government.

They most certainly were. I think Teutonic Knights had a great thing going for em too though.

Look at that armor!

The Germans always have the best armor/uniforms. From the Teutonic Knights' armor to the Prussian Pickelhaube, German military gear rocks.
Indeed it does.

Oh, on a last Total War nerd note, if you're not looking for the newest in line one, I should mention that the ones often regarded as the best in the series are Rome 1 and Medieval 2. Medieval 2 being the newer one, and obviously having all the great Medieval factions. And it makes amazing machinima moments like this.

https://youtu.be/9z8oM3d_3z0?t=527

It may not look the best, but it damn sure plays amazingly and the units actually feel like units keeping formation and fighting together.

Stop doing acid.

But let's see... Unless it's a game I REALLY want, then yeah, I rarely spend money on a brand new game. $60 is a lot of money.

But in terms of DLC, I think anything above $40 is a no go.

It's not always if you ask me. If it's a legit expansion that was fresh newly made content after a game is released? I think it is deserving of being DLC.

Like anything in Fallout DLC, or Skyrim's Dragonborn stuff.
there's no way to gauge that these days

skyrim isn't a great example, imo, because DLC was already an established mainstay of the industry by that point

so it's had to believe bethesda didn't have DLC in mind while developing the game

in general, i just hate paying extra for... anything, really
I think it's too black and white with how you're saying it. Sure they had DLC in mind, but I highly doubt they were withholding content like Dragonborn for a release price.

Now I sometimes think it IS obvious, like additional clothing/weapons released like a week later, or factions to games that are IN the game but you can't play as them (looking at you Creative Assembly. Sorry Sega is messing things up).

But when it's full fledged DLC that is clearly made AFTER the final game has gone golden, I think if the asking price is reasonable, it's worth it. Heck, even the last Mass Effect 3 DLC clearly had work put into it (ironic, right?).

Edit: I'd also like to add that anything above $40 to me is not worthy of anything, regardless of what it is. MMO's I guess really are different like WoW's expansions or FF 14's stuff.
