The Flood / We've come a long way.
« on: October 17, 2014, 07:20:57 PM »
5 years on b.net and some months here. Thousands of posts, hundreds of discussions, and the game that brought us all together: Halo.

Times change, people left, others joined, some stayed. We've all had some great times together, and we've all suffered through Bungie's terrible new game and website. We finally left our home to come and be together here. If you look back at years ago, did you ever see yourself leaving? I didn't. Maybe I wouldn't come on as much, but I always thought Bungie would continue being a kickass company making excellent games and setting the standard for the gaming industry, and having the best community on the whole damn Internet. That dream died. A new community manager was hired who didn't care about us or listen to us, and the mods just stopped giving a shit and told us to deal with the deterioration of our forum ourselves. It got worse, then we had that golden age again when there were stories being written. It felt like old times. And now it's all gone. We have nothing left but ourselves. No company making awesome games and communicating with us.

So please, remember the good days and look back at how you felt years ago. Don't waste your time here arguing and hating your community members. We're a dying breed of people. What other game had a forum as active as ours, as tight knit as ours to leave and make a new site THREE times so we can be together? In the face of hatred from our other community members no less.

Let's make this the best we can. Flood Forever.

The Flood / My dog was almost killed.
« on: October 04, 2014, 04:56:37 PM »
So I'm leaving my building, and I close the lobby door. I always close it quietly at night to not disturb anybody, so I manually close it instead of letting it close by itself and rush out like I do during the day time.

Door closed. I walk forward. I'm outside the lobby door, but there's like an entrance area before the lobby door, about 5 steps. You have bad visual for the sidewalk and I've almost bumped into people by accident several times. Anyways, I hear this scooter engine. I didn't care at first, but I noticed it was really loud and sounded really close. My dog was anxious to go but I pulled him back and kept him in the entrance. All of a sudden ZOOM a pizza delivery boy goes past me at like 40kmh at least. On the god damn sidewalk. On a sidewalk with entrances to buildings where it's nearly impossible to see the sidewalk to the left or right, WITHOUT his lights on.

In one second, my dogs head could've been smashed in or ripped off by this asshole. Had I not closed the door slowly, had I not paused at the entrance for those 3 seconds listening to the engine and wondering why it was so loud, my dog would've been killed, and I'd be in jail right now for avenging him.

Wow. In one second my entire life would've been ruined by some jackass too lazy to drive in the street and park in between some cars. I don't think I'll be getting much sleep tonight.

For discussion's sake, post any similar stories. And please, take that extra moment to check yourself and your surroundings, and to always be cautious and not underestimate how stupid, reckless, and lazy people are. Had I not, my best friend would be dead.

Serious / Employment report
« on: October 04, 2014, 01:11:59 PM »
http://www.whitehouse.gov/share/share-news-our-economy-making-incredible-progress?utm_source=email&utm_medium=email&utm_content=email378-text1&utm_campaign=economy

Quote
Each month, the Bureau of Labor Statistics puts out a report called the "Employment Situation." It's what tells us how many jobs were created in the past month, and what the unemployment rate is.

This month's report is in, and the numbers are strong:

The economy created 248,000 jobs in September. And the unemployment rate dropped to 5.9 percent, the lowest rate since July 2008.

And while we don't put too much stock in any one report, there's a clear trend here.

This month's report was a clear indication of how far we’ve come since the recession, but we've still got more to do. We know that many Americans aren't feeling enough of the benefits of this recovery. That's something President Obama addressed yesterday, when he laid out his plan for a new foundation for America's 21st century economy.

Thanks to the determination of the American people and the decisions of President Obama's administration, our economy is stronger than it's been in years: Businesses have added 10.3 million jobs over 55 straight months, the longest streak on record.

The unemployment rate has fallen to 5.9 percent. That's a number many economists didn't think we'd see for years.

We've still got more to do, but this is news worth sharing: new jobs, a lower unemployment rate, and historic progress.

Don't make the same mistake DTL did in waiting to see if his behavior changes. It won't, and he's going to ruin the atmosphere here just like he used to in BE. Why do you guys think he's been kicked out of so many groups?

Don't care if I get banned. Kick him before he makes this place shitty with his retarded ideologies and hostility to anybody that even slightly disagrees or just has a different opinion.

Your move Cheat. I'm guessing you'll ban me and lock the thread, but I wanted to say this publicly so none of you could say you weren't warned.
