The Flood / Re: What do you view as canon in Halo?
« on: October 02, 2014, 03:32:04 PM »
I agree with you, actually. Especially as someone who read all the books (minus some of the new ones)

Yeah, I didn't read any of the new ones, especially since it had the 343 logo on it. They actually made a reprint of Halo: The Fall of Reach with the ending changed to the ending in Halo: Reach. How stupid is that?

Halo 2, 3 and 4.

Halo 1 is up for interpretation and ODST and Reach were just shit, you cant have a Halo game without Arbiter and Chief.

I'm glad 343 will fix what Bungie broke.
Reach and ODST are amazing.

I was trolling, ODST is my second fave Halo game.

Still didn't like Reach, it just didn't feel like a Halo game and the story wasn't dark or gritty enough, I didn't feel like I was fighting a loosing battle and the story was kinda.... bleh. Then again Joe Staten didn't work on it so that's probably why.

As for the whole canon thing, 343 fixed that (probably one of the few good hings they've done).

I agree with ODST being my second favorite as well. As for 343.... No. Sorry. I don't see it that way.

Halo 1-3, ODST, Reach.
game>book, in terms of canon.

Hey I thought The Fall of Reach was a pretty accurate prequel for Halo 1, and this was written way before Halo: Reach was even out.

You could take your weapon and strike me down after you complete your training with me.

I have nothing to learn from you. I am stronger on my own.

If you will not learn, you will be destroyed!

I want to be a Sith Lord.

Become my apprentice. Learn the true nature of the force.
No thanks, I would never be anyone's apprentice. I am more of a loner and would be a rogue Sith Lord in the galaxy.

You could take your weapon and strike me down after you complete your training with me.

All of the games and that is it.

lol at any Halo fanboys who try to say that Halo could beat Star Wars because they misinterpret the books.

Ummm. I respect both works of art and I'm not a fanboy.

And what's wrong with the books?

Seeing how we have one for Star Wars, I'd figured there should be one for Halo.

I view the first 3 games and ODST as canon. The book The Fall of Reach and First Strike along with Contact harvest as canon.

Halo 4 to me is like a bad fan-fiction story, and Halo: Reach destroyed the real beginning of Halo 1.

And if anyone here has actually read first strike which is between the end of Halo 1 and the beginning of Halo 2, it explains how Chief made it back to earth, befriended Sgt Johnson, Needed a suit upgrade, and even introduced the engineers way before ODST. Oh and spoilers....

Spoiler
They had to kill the engineer because it knew intel about Cheif's Mark V and they didn't want The Covenant to know about this, hence they killed it. At least from what I remember when I last read the book.

Definitely not this!

Believe it or not, The Prequels and The Original Trilogy is what I view as cannon, even if the prequels suck. Let's hope Epsoide 7 is not a frack up.

Everything else such as The old republic, I'd consider an extended story.

I got a letter saying that my financial aid has been reinstated. I'm going to get my aid.
See? Things will get better Deci. You just have to hang in there and get your degree. Then, you'll be able to get out and do what you actually want to do. You can make something great of your life.

I suppose so.

ITT: not classical composers. John Williams and Marty O'Donnell are not classical composers.

If that's the case, Beethoven.

Martin O'Donnell.

While I do respect the grandfathers of classical music, Martin O'Donnell in my honest opinion beats them all single handedly. Just listen to this epicness.

SHAME ON YOU BUNGIE FOR FIRING HIM!

I just found out that the music in this video is actually fake. It's not by Martin O'Donnell. The music that is. It's fan made. It got me good though.

Yes, it's dead. It was a stupid concept anyways.
Why do you think it's stupid?
Gender roles blah blah blah.
In this day and age, women want to feel independent and that they can do things on their own without being treated like they need a man's help every step of the way. Before you go off complaining about me saying this, why do you think men try to be "chivalrous" in the first place anyway?

Honestly, it's completely true that for a lot of women, guys are only nice with them if they want to sleep with them.

I kinda disagree. I only do it because mainly I'm being polite. At least that's how my mom raised me. :/

Well I'm really nice to girls. I guess I'm one of the rare cases of a guy that wasn't a douche and still got a pretty substantial amount of poon from pretty hot girls. But yes there is this developing thing with girls of this generation where being polite is considered "weird".

Such idiots. X(

Personally, it would annoy me when someone that I just met tried to be full of chivalry. I wouldn't mind a male friend, or someone that I know, but when it's a total stranger I just had a small talk with... It's like yelling "I have an interest in you, yet I don't know you at all!" and certain days you just don't want to hear any of that.

Still, being polite would actually be helpful.

There are times where I come off as unintentionally creepy. I don't do it on purpose. :/

I'd rather have someone say "hey you're kind of being a creeper right now" then to state a rude remark like that.

It's probably because you're a creepy looking fella with a crooked smile who's flapping a sausage around all day. Tends to be a turn-off for the ladies.

I highly doubt that's him in his avatar.

Yes. Yes it is.

If a girl said to me "Don't worry, I'm not gonna have sex with you." if I tried doing the same thing, this is what I would say to her.

"Let me get this straight. Me being nice to you and actually trying to be a decent human being in a completely screwed up world, translates to I want have sex with you according to your mind? Bitch, if I wanted to have sex with you, I would have come up and said 'hey, let's have sex, what do you say?' Just for assuming that, you are horrible! I don't want to have sex with you anyway! You're ugly on the inside and no one that's truly loyal will ever be with you."

I'm not kidding, that's what I would have said to her.
