Does it offer cross-platform connectivity with Skype, for example?
This is it's own thing. It's meant more for privacy in mind, so companies like MS or the government won't watch you. Kinda wish Skype had the white board feature. It's pretty badass. And of course, I have both and I hardly use em anyway. There is an iOS app for it too. Not sure about android.

It's hardly a religious holiday. It's mostly just an excuse to decorate, have family over and give each other presents to lighten up an otherwise usually gloomy season (i.e. winter)
I wonder if it has anything to do with me being part Russian. Because we don't even use a Christmas Tree, if anything it's a "New Years tree" That can easily be assembled and is made of tiny bits of white paper shaped like a pine tree. I think I'm just gonna default into celebrating nothing next year.

Eh. I don't celebrate it and neither does my family. I'm not saying no one should celebrating it, by all means celebrate it to your heart's content. Sacramento and San Francisco are not bad, but I would not live in either one. Los Angeles and places further down like Bakersfield I do not care for. Northern California is much better in my opinion, but I would choose Washington over California.

Nah, as long as I have the older version of Skype I'll stick with it.
Add to the fact that no one I know uses that one, it's not worth my time to try it.
It's actually better than Skype. Chat is encrypted to start with. It has it's own white board.

Ya, I was disappointed yesterday when mine "updated". Then after updating it kept crashing for a couple hours, then finally worked. It looks pretty damn awful though.
If you want the old version that I have, PM me and I'll instruct you on how to disable the updater once installing.
