Don't you guys get it? He pocket vetoed all of our submissions. He's all like "fuck, all these designs are shit, and the ones Deci made are tacky as fuck!, fuck this my design master race."

Sep7agon, because Cheat hates you!

And if he doesn't say he hates anyone, he secretly hates you.
Pretty sure he's just busy.

That's his excuse of saying "No."

Dumb broad.

Because it's Deci
Deci seems like one of those people who has never seen anything through their entire life.

Yes because clearly I was born blind.
I'm not that presumptuous. And I didn't literally mean see through.

If they don't change that, I will never buy another product from 343.

Seriously, it looks oversaturated as fuck, not to mention we all know there won't even be ANY firefight. What really bothers me is how badly I want to have my own ports let alone create my very own Halo game using existing Bungie assets, but that would only get me sued.

This is why I stick with the Xbox, PC, and 360 versions of the games.

Edit: Looking at it now I honestly hope that's just debug lighting.
You won't get sued for making your own Halo game as long as you aren't making any money off of it.
It's stated in MS' fair use document.

Well it would be an obvious freebie, but that's legal to do? I thought you could only make maps on the PC versions and revisions to whatever CMT is doing.
http://www.project-contingency.net/h1-home

Thanks. I'll check this out.

There also Installation 01 and Sins o te Prophets, the latter being a huge mod for the game Sins o a Solar Empire.

If you count it, there was the smaller fan project UNSC Warfare on the Internet, though that was more of a test for an idea. The guy making it messaged 343 and they confirmed you can make a Halo game as long as its free and doesn't have Halo in the title (Hene Project Contingency, Installation 01 both not having Halo in the title), so people aren't getting confused between official and fan creations and canon.

I should see if I could make an ODST game using the ODST engine, though that's probably not feasible because it's never been publicly released aside from the game ODST, and to decomplie that would cost so much fucking money, I'd have to spend money on a Jtag and that's just the beginning.
Just use one of the many open source engines that are available.

Aside from the main Halo 1 Engine and the Halo 2 map editor, what other ones?
Unity, idTech...

Oh that, I meant ones with existing assets already, but yeah I already use Unity so that is an option. I don't think I've heard of IdTech. That's not something like RPG maker is it?
You've never heard of id Software? id Tech is the name of their engine (newest version is id Tech 5 which you need a license for, used for games like Wolfenstien: The New Order). You can use id Tech 4 for free though (used for games like DOOM 3 and Brink.)

Oh, that...

There engine is free to download?

Put yourself in the position where the Halo franchise wants to do a reboot to fix all its mistakes. What would you do with the franchise?

The only one that needs a reboot is Reach, I wouldn't really write anything new because I'd try to stick as close as the book's story as possible.

Some faggot was making a Sep7 smash type game. It had shittty concept art and everything. What happened to that?

Alas. Making fun of me again. I never even made concept art for it. That was for an entirely different project for last year, which I aced at.

15463
No.

I've spent the last 2-3 years programming the most mediocre shit in the world, never being anywhere near good enough to relate my stuff to that of a "real" developer.  Only until these last few months has everything I've learned in my time of reading APIs, textbooks on AI, game engine architecture, etc... started to come together.

A year ago, I could make a fairly buggy flash game with nothing impressive.  Now, I'm working with networked multiplayer games over cloud servers in Unity/Unreal, procedurally generated models + terrain, custom lighting shaders, etc... in a custom game engine using DirectX and OpenGL.  You just got to keep at it, because it picks up if you find something interesting.

Once again: you're really letting people on this forum get to you too much, dude.  Also, calling you a mediocre game dev isn't constructive criticism: the industry would be dead if devs quit every time kids on forums said "this sucks".

You're right man. Games would be a thing of the past if that happened, and I remembered how I got my passion for wanting to make games 3 years ago, and I still do want to continue.

We should collaborate on a project sometime, I could use your netcoding skills, I don't know netcoding.

I'd be down, but preferably in the summer, when I have more time.  I'm also in the process of setting up a blog with Unity and Unreal networking tutorials from scratch, which I'll link to you sometime if you'd like.

I'd love that. Yeah I prefer the summer too. That would be perfect.

That was done on skype. Remember that stuff I showed you on b.net?

That's right. Forgot about that.

That was still super fucked up with what happened. No community has ever attacked me like that. Not even Newgrounds despite all of it's fucked up people would go that far, pretty much outside of their territory.

For your processor I would highly recommend an Intel i7 or above
Not really. An i5 is more than enough if he's only using it for gaming.

Well, I have an i7, but I do more than just gaming on this thing, I also have 16GB of RAM.

I think I'm gonna upgrade my graphics card next.
Well there you go then. Unless OP is doing video editing or 3d rendering and shit, an i5 is plenty.

No point in him going overkill and getting something unnecessary.
Actually, now that you both mentioned it, I was thinking about going with i7 for editing videos and such (I'm going to be testing for an Adobe Premiere certification and I use the program quite frequently. I plan to get certified in AfterEffects as well).
Well if you're doing a lot of editing, I'd recommend and i7.

Agreed, as well as asset rendering as well, you will need power for that.

As for your OS, I'd either get 7 or 8.1 It won't matter soon because you'll be able to get Windows 10 for free when it's out.
I will?

Yeah, you have an entire year to upgrade for free if you have Windows 7, 8, or 8.1

Hence work in progress.. By the way, ODST is being given to us, for FREE (As long as you have MCC of course).. Little room for bitching to be honest

Actually, no it isn't. See, 343 made a deal with satan. They give us ODST for free so we can enjoy it in glorious HD. But only if they killed the main character off so that no more ODST in glorious HD can ever be made again.

Them sneaky fucks.
More than one ODST exists you know.
Rookie wasn't even really a character. He was just a plot/story vehicle.

The Rookie was suppose to be the player from what I know. That's why he never spoke. As in you the player identify with the rookie.
The Rookie was a story/plot vehicle. He only existed to take you through the game's story.
He wasn't even a character really, just a blank slab.

Rookie being killed off doesn't rule out the possibility of future ODST games.

Sadly that's not what kills it off, since 343 converted ODST's into Spartan 4's somehow or whatever they're called.
ODST's still exist. Not all of them became S-IVs.

Okay good.

Okay, if it's not debug lighting, then we complain. Otherwise, I'm sure it's just debug lighting to test out the environment. Developers need to cheat in order to see if their crap would work or not.

Let me ask you this: do you enjoy making video games? If so, continue doing what you're doing. If people are calling you a "wannabe dev," who the fuck cares? It is what you like to do and you will get better in time. I myself plan to get into game development/design once I get out of high school, and if there's one thing you need to realize before you get into it, is that there will always be people trying to put you down. Trust me, there is a difference between constructive criticism and flat-out being a dick.

Do what you want to, fuck everyone else.
The problem is that actual devs would be hard-pressed to say that a career in the video game industry is worth pursuing.

Not that most users would mention that--they're too busy having their 'lolDeci' circlejerk.

This lolDeci bullshit is cancer. The fuck is wrong with these people?

That's what happened to Lionhead Studios before it happened to Bungie. Perhaps, the truth is, the more involved you get with an AAA publisher, the more of your soul is sold to the capitalistic Gods. (EA also tends to offer sacrifices and money baths)

This reminds me of the Halo 2 E3 Demos the Joe Staten did. This Bungie seems so much different then the one we have now. It was always fun watching the Bungie vidocs for their games and seeing what they were up too. Because unlike most developers Bungie had personality. Now Bungie is just another triple A dev. Lazy and out for money.

I hate publishers.
