The Flood / What's Your Standard State of Existence IRL?
« on: April 05, 2015, 09:39:28 PM »
You know, the mood you're usually in or the disposition you regularly inhabit.

Don't let the paper fool you, I'm colder than a mountain spring.
And usually hopeless.

I wonder about certain mentioned events that I wasn't present for.
Is there any chance of a timeline like the one for Bungie.net?

How many people would like something like that?
Is it even a relevant idea to other users?

The Flood / I Have to be Mouse Moses
« on: March 19, 2015, 12:32:30 PM »
Anyone have advice for leading mice to a promised land?

There's apparently a lot of mice where I'm living and I now have the responsibility of removing them. I'm a softie, so I'm not going to kill them, and to avoid other residents using lethal traps I've gotta get something moving fairly soon.
To avoid them coming back, how far away should I take them?

I'm aware of traps designed just for capture, but I don't want to buy anything I can make.

The Flood / What's Your "Love" Definition?
« on: February 14, 2015, 08:02:33 PM »
We all have conventions for how we consider love. Today's a pretty fitting day to talk about this stuff, so I'm asking.
And I'll share first, as usual:
Love involves mutual understanding and appreciation of each other, and to some extent, mutual dependability.
This doesn't only extend to romantic relationships, but serves as a definition for familial love and platonic love.

What does your definition rely most heavily upon, dependability, understanding, sex, etc.?

The Flood / Valentines Day Shipping
« on: February 14, 2015, 01:40:39 PM »
It's Valentine's Day, this was inevitable.

You can request new ships to become forum 'canon'
You can also refute other people's ships, the victorious ship becomes canon.
[hint: try sinking them with canon]

Again, I'll state my most ingenious ship yet:
Azumarill + Prime meridia= Azumerillia

Cheatsara is pretty much canon, let's be honest.
Elekiyo is the steamy hate dating relationship we need.
SlayingAlphy is hereby a thing.
OssYu of course is mandatory.
Slashonoid is now canon.
WaifTru Master has been canon since B.next, but it's official now.
Dastin is now canon.
TValentine is now canon.
etc.

Or you can state your official forum Valentines here.
Azumarill ^_^

The Flood / Korrasami Representation

There are Legend of Korra spoilers ahead
Spoiler
If the video above doesn't link to 5:06, go there to skip the fanfiction stuff. I'm not spending more time trying to make it work >.>

Korrasami= the relationship or "ship" between main characters Avatar Korra and Asami Sato, meant in a romantic sense.
This video brings up a few points I'd like to query,

1.) Should the Korrasami ship have been more explicit (should there have been more evidence, say, a kiss)?
2.) Do you think there's equal representation for gay and lesbian relationships in modern media?
3.) When will show producers have license to feel like they can safely portray queer relationships?
You're always welcome to add your own questions.

Happy Valentine's Day, Sep7.

The Flood / How About...
« on: February 14, 2015, 01:26:56 AM »
Instead of recognizing the ills of consumerism and its effect on interpersonal relationships, we take today to talk about things like experiences and what our thoughts on things like love are?
Could be fun.
And I'll be doing it regardless.

The Flood / Do You Seek to be a Polymath?
« on: February 12, 2015, 11:02:19 PM »
If so, what are your range of interests, and how are you going about learning them?

I've been focusing on my interests that allow me to save time in one way or another: literature and writing, Biology (Molecular biology mostly, but physics applies to my writing), meta cognition, and I'm uncertain what dream research would be considered, but neuroscience/psychology to some extent.
My other interests outside of this include coding and programming, engineering, sketching/drawing, martial arts, etc.

Recently I've designed a way to structure idealized curriculum for myself.

1.) Take mental goals or desired abilities and dissect them down to their core abstractions
2.) Localize abstraction to an area of the brain (Where is it in the brain, this gives visual representation for associative mapping of multiple cognitive regions)
3.) Research stimulation of respective brain area (how does it function in mental process)
4.) Build curriculum stimulating these areas

This method directly relates to increasing cognitive efficacy and association between differing brain areas.
It's about developing how to think before tasks as opposed developing thought arising from task completion. The latter happens regardless, the former offers more room for growth.

The Flood / Romantic Influences
« on: February 03, 2015, 05:17:35 PM »
What things have influenced your romantic views?

A large part of my romantic views comes from Studio Ghibli films. Seriously. There's something about the subtle nature of it, and overall the appreciation both people have just being around each other that really appeals to me. So that's the type of scenario I consider, like watching clouds pass on a blue day or going on some sort of adventure together.

You could characterize it as passive in a sense, maybe?

The Flood / School Trips
« on: February 02, 2015, 05:24:22 PM »
I'm talking about the ones where you fly to another place for a few days and faff about on a schedule.
Which are your best?

At the end of middle school I went on a Washingtion D.C. trip. Everything about it, from seeing monuments and getting out of my home town, riding trains and singing the amazing horse song was just awesome (though everyone else didn't think so).

I also went on a band trip to Didney Worl in Califronia.
The park was alright, I'd never been to Didney Worl before so it was new.

The best moments were just relaxing with tolerable people or strangers.
My favorite ride was the screaming coaster.

And there was this night when it poured during a water show. I won't deny something felt magical there.

Where'd you go on your school trips, what did you do, and how did it feel?

The Flood / Do You Experience This?
« on: February 01, 2015, 11:43:26 PM »
At seemingly random moments you stop and realize one day you're not going to be around?
It's eerie as hell.

Latest one I had was when I woke up last week and just stared at my hands for a solid five minutes in pre-dawn semi-darkness.
You guys? I'm aware it's common for humans to contemplate mortality, I'm just curious how you deal with it.
Eventually I'm able to calm myself down and proceed, usually by thinking about what I'm trying to accomplish.

The Flood / Your Style
« on: January 30, 2015, 11:16:25 AM »
How do you carry yourself in appearance? What does it say about you?

I primarily wear combinations of white, grey, and black. I just realized someone could interpret this to reflect my "extremist" attitude towards existence.
I seem to wear shades in equal proportion in my favorite outfits main articles with complementing articles/accessories.
The specific style hints at formal and informal elements, also equally in my favorite outfits.

At the expense of sounding like your high school LA teacher:

I think this says something about my dualistic and shifting nature. I'm usually trying to pull off multiple personas within the same day, and my clothing choice gives me a medium to express characters I inhabit.

Spoiler
I'm also trying to mess with ねこ

This was the assignment:
"Write a page to two pages of setting using techniques discussed in bluh etc."

What I wrote:

Spoiler

Winter survived. White huddled in flurries, falling in quilts before the ground even greeted it. Cold pervaded, biting and fierce, cruel and cunning. It gored cloth and barrier, cutting straight for flesh like a wolf's avarice. Something smelling of living flesh and iron moved the cold, yet the snow stayed white. For miles it wandered to the same falling tempo, falling in succession, falling by subzero air. Immortal blizzards raised dunes meandering past sight and into obscurity no farther than a nose-length away. Flurries sculpted the dune cascades like artisans at work, flitting in place. Snow coated winter's visage white.

Bounding, frigid gales roamed the countryside. Ravenous, they effaced even the hillocks, warping and reshaping the cascades on daily whims as cascading generations again arose with time. Assuring crevasses dared the delusion of charming foot frost without frostiness, like warm feet scuffing luminous ice and showering Styrofoam. Dune-tops broke in the wind, frigid and desolate as frost fall. Baying wind perforated the bitten bumps, singing discord. By wind’s teeth spectral powder veils rose over soft slopes, crested violent peaks, and found peace in troughs. When breeze's  breath ceased the veils slipped away, suddenly indiscernible from buried flakes. Above, snow and wind waltzed, undulating in ashen skies. Farther, they blurred, seen and unseen by the impulse of their season. In the dissonant sky winter lived.

The Flood / You'd Kill Someone "If..."
