They have to be proactive. If your friend shows no sign of change by himself, you probably won't persuade him either.

Unless you're quite close friends it's unlikely that he'll change his stance. He probably will just not smoke in front of you.

I know a couple of people who play it, but I don't know them well.
I'd be up to try it online.
Cool.

Do you have experience DM'ing or RP'ing?
No, any knowledge I have comes from one of my friends that likes to RP online.
Then we have something in common.

Some friends and I used to play it using maptool. It was pretty fun. I think I like the newest edition out of them all, the games mechanics are simpler making the games go faster.
I'll check it out.

It's always good to have alternatives.

I'd recommend Pathfinder over DnD, personally. It's also a game that's better in person, but voice chat can manage well enough. Keep in mind that it's a good idea to invest in a rulebook if you want to play or DM, otherwise you're going to end up tripping over yourself in sessions.
My main problem still remains; playing a tabletop game with friends is not possible due to inaccessibility.
The website I linked provides a virtual tabletop for any RPG so the actual game shouldn't be a problem - i just need some volunteers from here.

Anyways I'll get a book if there are enough people.

For the sake of it - it's one of those things that i want to try out at least once.

I wouldn't have posted here, but...
I've got the following problem: there's no one in my area who either has it, wants to play it or even knows what it is.

That's why I want to ask you guys if you maybe want to play with me -- online! There's a website dedicated to simulate tabletop RPGs like D&D for people who want to play together but live too far apart; it's called http://roll20.net/. Provides an virtual table to play on and different chat options such as voice chat, video chat or conventional text chat.
Do you have any kind of experience with the actual D&D? Then this should be no problem thanks to the website! Pre-built campaigns and character sheets are provided for convenience.

If there are questions or desires though...
There's a whole tutorial series dedicated to roll20, explaining how to navigate the website, illustrating each function and even a guideline on how to create a custom campaign.
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJGKJMlzabImiNQMQDXyIMq_NxSx0i5Zg

There are certain roles to fill first though; I'd need a DM and a few participants...
Anyways, I have the option to use voice chat.

What's your opinion on it? Would you be on board with me? If you've got further questions, I'll try to answer as best as I can.

[Please mind this is just a suggestion, nothing is concrete.]

« on: February 16, 2015, 07:02:54 AM »
I think I've completed base AC II in the stricter sense; let all alternative custscenes play out (ignore & execute all QTEs), collected all collectibles, listened to mission specific unique dialogue, as well as 'real world' dialogue, completely rebuilt Montereggioni, got every achievement and all that jazz.

Otherwise I only got all achievements in Prince of Persia and AC I. That's it as far as I know.

Gaming / Re: What Defines a Game from an Interactive Movie?
« on: February 15, 2015, 06:02:38 PM »
1. A failure state; Game Over/Restart from Last Checkpoint/Implied Failure State (e.g. no story progression)

2. (Complex) Player Input is necessary to avoid failure state (ties in with beforementioned point); if a game quite literally plays itself, it is not able to fulfill requirement 1, as it is virtually impossible to achieve a failure state (example: FF13 early intro combined with auto attack management). That's also why I often see people complaining about Arkham styled combat systems and their godlike counter button.

3. (Implied) Success State; can be highscores, execution of objectives or story progression.

Thus I conclude a game such as Telltale's point&click games as games, while I consider heavy rain an interactive movie.
Why? Heavy rain's death scenes reward the player with a different progression in the story; may it be an undesirable reward doesn't matter. In the end you just alter the results, nothing more.

Since I don't have the file and can't figure out how to convert images from my online gallery to imgur you'll get the link to it.

Just right click the image and open it in a new tab. It doesn't need to be on Imgur for it to work.
Spoiler
I was using the Steam client so the 'open in new tab' option wasn't showing when I right-clicked it. I assumed I couldn't do anything about it...

Thanks though, now I know for next time.

I played trough Castle Crashers in about three or four hours.

I don't even know if that was actually fast - I don't do dedicated speedruns.

I see that Dice is ramping up the realism factor in their games.

Visceral*

DICE isn't doing this one, they're working on Battlefront now.
That happens when I don't inform myself...

Spoiler
And that's because I'm not interested in hardline.

Oh and thanks for the correction.

Gaming / Should I get the Deus Ex collection?
« on: February 08, 2015, 02:44:35 PM »
There's a Steam sale for Square Enix games inluding all of the Deus Ex games.
The whole series is avaible for a 80% discount - should I buy the whole series, just certain ones or should I leave it?

The thing is; I still have unplayed games in my library and try to keep it as 'clean' as possible by not buying too many games at once, but I also know that the Deus Ex series is one of the more significant franchises in the video game industry and definitively worth a look.
Also with mostly narrative driven games, I don't want to spoil the story for myself by looking p too many walktroughs or let's plays, so I'm asking you: is it worth the buck and, if yes, which ones should I get if not the whole series?

Just curious; did it have rabies or any other disease or did it want to attack you for some other reason?
Not a clue. Just looked angry and was being aggressive, so I stabbed it.
I wouldn't want to look angry to you now...
