Can someone from Sapphire explain to me what ideologies/beliefs they considered bannable, and why does everything on there seem to boil down to politics, at least from an outside perspective that's what it seems like.

I can understand the dislike of banter/rudeness, but what I don't understand is what seems like the very firm political thought that controls the group, and the apparent disdain for any opposing thought.
the only thing that gets people banned is bigotry.

if someone says something that is racist, homophobic, transphobic, sexist, classist, ableist, etc then they'll be warned or banned.
you people are such sheltered little bitches hahahaha
what's it like to be totally devoid of empathy or even basic humanity?

yes. china is an imperialist capitalist nation just like the US at this point.
I think the problem is once a nation reaches critical mass with power, you see this happen, and it's kinda shitty

Quote
i cant believe my position on this isnt obvious to you.
this isn't necessary
this is why we need international accountability and built-in accountability of a state government to its proles (i mean true democracy, not lip service democracy like america's or china's). addressing abuses of power is a bit of a different conversation anyway.

and yes, it was necessary. it is clear that you don't actually understand my principles and instead see me as a caricature. stop trying to argue with THE EVIL COMMUNIST.

What is it these evil American imperialists gain by conquering North Korea?
profits via military industrial complex contracts and regional influence. the US wants to exert influence in east asia in order to prevent china from achieving hegemony; having key allies in japan and the *whole* korean peninsula is critical to that. and i think the imperialists are honestly just a little embarrassed by the fact that the kim regime hasnt been toppled.
Okay, legit question instead of this dumb shit posting

Isn't China being just as imperialistic though and filling the gap the US is leaving? Especially building islands that host military bases, despite condemnation from the UN? I mean they're practically bullying Taiwan and Hong Kong as well.

whoa whoa man where did that come from, when i made that thread the other day it was just because i was surprised

a lot of my views already line up with sapphire anyway, i dont like capitalism, im anti-imperialism and i dont think we should wage all out war with north korea, all that shit, sorry i dont feel like getting into arguing about fringe stuff from the past like "where mao/stalin good guys" because i think their reputations are pretty set in stone and if you want to argue for socialism to people you gotta move on from them
weird, that's a little more generous than how you worded that post. try to be like this more often.

You don't think it's weird how the country shut itself off from communications, or how there's no electricity on satellite images? How about testimonies from people who've escaped the country, or the fact that they hunt down people who try to leave? You're just gonna ignore these things because you're so high on your what if scenario?
they do have electricity. and uh, you know people expatriate from every nation right? and for that matter, isn't it pretty funny that US media focuses so much on people leaving this one particular nation, the one that we havent quite been able to topple for the better part of the last century? almost like we're using it as a justification for the continued encirclement/threats of invasion. and the US has never lied about justifications for those sorts of things, as we all know.
The Soviet Union actually did this to Afghanistan. Did you support that colonialism? They wanted to destroy Islam completely (as well as other minor religions, some far older than Islam) and force Afghanis to speak Russian. Do you support that behavior just because it was committed by communists instead of capitalist Americans? Keep in mind they did half succeed with countries like Tajikistan etc.
i dont support much of anything the soviet union did after stalin. lenin's revolution was betrayed; communism in russia was doomed well before the USSR actually fell. and im not talking about stalin with you again. it's funny how terribly off base your perceptions of me can be.
>it wasn't real communism

OH NO NO NO NO😂😂😂😂😂😂
this is such a tired joke, ahistorical and couched in anti-intellectualism. the proletariat was betrayed by the soviet government, which slowly implemented state capitalism in the years following stalin. capital accumulated at the top while the proles' living and working conditions slowly deteriorated and russia exerted imperial influence over foreign nations. something similar happened to china after mao's death, when deng re-liberalized the nation and handed industry back over to capitalists (and we all know how well china's proleteriat is doing; definitely socialists, totes). as it turns out, sometimes assholes make it pretty hard to execute revolutionary socialism over a period of decades.

how tedious.

sapphire strikes me as a bunch of people who say they are tolerance, but ironically are intolerant of any thought but their own, which is an issue a lot of the left has to deal with

freedom of thought is suppressed for freedom of diversity for the sake of diversity, usually just with skin color

Why would I want to join a shitty place that would ban me just for disagreeing with people? No thanks.
no one gets banned just for disagreeing. people get banned for being assholes and arguing in bad faith ad infinitum.

Wrong. I got banned for stating an opinion the collective didn't like.

Since I realised it pissed everyone off afterwards I decided to leave the situation rather than argue about it (and piss off everyone further), I got two weeks for my trouble.

Then there was Tevis and Beb for some irl reason that bled back to the forum, and Davos because he was contrarian to the majority.
[Whining at the facts]

Woah man, no need to be feisty. Tevis and Beb clearly had some disagreement because one isn't around anymore, and the other seems fairly quiet these days. I know not why exactly they got banned but it was something disagreeable that management didn't like.

Davos was the only person I saw who argued with the backing of some article or facts, only to get punned or gangblasted out because it wasn't what everyone else believed. No mention of whether the facts were right or wrong, mind you.

And finally, I couldn't care less about the ban, it's not like it refutes your claim at all. And all the board warnings, emails and otherwise that prove they just hate the place and anyone associated with here.

Not that any of that is surprising.
listen, dipshit, im telling you that the tevis/beb thing isnt relevant because i actually know what happened and you dont.

davos kicked shit up just for the sake of drama constantly. stop trying to act like he was actually there to be part of the community.

There's that friendly welcome I remember.

No need to be angry over the ignorant.
im not angry, i just think youre acting a bit daft.

it's about anti-imperialism and respecting a nation's right to self determination.
Respecting the right to self determination kind of went out the door when they continuously violate human rights and threaten the international community with nuclear tests.

But by all means, continue to defend a totalitarian regime just because it aligns with your belief system.
the human rights violations havent been proven. it's all sourced from american and rok intelligence, like i said in the post you replied to. and for that matter, if we're talking human rights violations, america is the last nation that should be casting critical eyes. anything the kims may have been doing pales in comparison to the blood the US has on its hands. they're going nuclear because the world's most powerful nation invaded them and fostered a coup in the 50s. we killed something like 20% of their population (straight from the mouth of curtis lemay- https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/the-us-war-crime-north-korea-wont-forget/2015/03/20/fb525694-ce80-11e4-8c54-ffb5ba6f2f69_story.html?utm_term=.0639ee4f54de_). we then established economic encirclement and turned the world against the nation in an attempt to starve them out. having a nuclear bomb is the only leverage that could possibly deter the US from finishing the job. the US and ROK run invasion drills annually and constantly pump out anti-DPRK propaganda. if you can't see the writing on the wall here, it's because you aren't terribly perceptive, or are just easily fooled by the imperialists.

Can someone from Sapphire explain to me what ideologies/beliefs they considered bannable
They're down the ultra far left rabbit hole to the point they think the Soviet Union wasn't imperialistic via invading Afghanistan or what have you, because they're Communist and not Capitalist
I understand, that's what I've heard. But I'd like to see one of them actually civilly discuss their reasoning for their actions, as everyone outside their group seems to have the same opinion on them.
All I know is that if it made Cindy of all people cringe at how their logic goes, it's not a place I much wanna hang around. I think they unironically support North Korea too and attribute a lot of it to fake news/propaganda.
not wanting north korea to be bombed to shit =/= supporting the kim government. it's about anti-imperialism and respecting a nation's right to self determination. if all the shit that the ROK and US information agencies have said about NK is true, then the evidence should hold up in international court. the united states has no right to spread propaganda about a nation which they tore asunder by invading and continue to threaten year after year after year. the stance which absolves the US of its actions while condemning the korean people is ahistorical and serves the imperialist narrative.
