Yes it does. Back when it was created most sports were played on horseback. Seeing as how it was one of the few sports to be played on foot, it was called Football. England also introduced the sport as Soccer to its colonies as well which is why the US, Australia, and Canada call it Soccer instead of Football.

It's kind of gone out of style. Moe is king, Anno isn't interested in Evangelion anymore, and the only thing that I can think of that isn't shonen fantasy would be your run of the mill mecha. Check back in a few years and see if sci-fi starts to become cool again. We're only just starting to see it come back in movies and games in the west. What we really need is more steam punk stuff though, it's such an under loved genre. Spoiler Your gif is actually cyberpunk btw

Rare is a formerly amazing company that MS bought and promptly killed. None of the old staff works there anymore. Their reanimated corpse makes kinect bullshit. Though maybe Phil Spencer will do something with them.
Rare was dead prior to the MS acquisition. All the people who made that company what it was had already left by the time MS got ahold of them.
The founders left in 2007. MS bought them in 2002.
Didn't help that they just sat on games like Killer Instinct etc. until recently.
Cause founders are what makes a studio what it is. Fuck I guess Bungie is still the same now as it was 10 years ago. I mean Jason Jones still works there, surely that's all that matters in a game dev studio. StarFox: Adventures, Kamio, and Nuts and Bolts were all kind if crap. They didn't exactly have a good track record prior to being put on kinect shit.

I went through the GitHub page. It wasn't the IGDA that made that list but some online blogger. You can also appeal your "block" if you desire. I also added a link with information about that, and how you might have ended up on the list. Some of responses from people blacklisted, being people involved in GamerGate, specifically target her gender.
tl;dr: Get your facts straight before accusing organizations, and people.
IGDA did promote and endorse this blocker.
